Posting something fun this October with @thehoneybeet as we tackle the 31 prompts of @hp-fearfest 2021 All Hallows Challenge, with our fic A Tear in the Veil | Rating: M | No warnings thus far

Day 1: Haunted House

“Harry jammed his glasses on his nose and snatched his wand off the end table, turning to the door and reassuring himself that more likely than not, Laverne’s mysterious one-sided discussion could be chalked up to the old painting’s usual ploys for conversation. Though at the sound of muffled voices in the next room and the howl of October wind at the castle window, his hand reflexively tightened. 

What have you got to be scared of? He chided himself. 

There was nothing malicious in the castle anymore, and certainly nothing he couldn’t easily handle. After all, Hogwarts was many things, least of which a Haunted House.”

Blood Magic

“And besides, the implications of a soul returning from the spiritual plane over a decade after death would have unthinkable ramifications,” said Draco. “So before you start spinning any little conspiracy theories, we should cool our heads and remain cal—”

“Catastrophe!” screamed Sybil Trelwney as she wretched apart the curtains surrounding the small hospital bed, causing both Harry and Draco to nearly leap from their seats. “A cataclysmic undoing! A dire unsettling of the ethereal plane!”

Possession

“Wh-who is she?” he asked in a quaking voice.

“Who is who?” said Harry, following his gaze, and seeing nothing but the wardrobe, the doxy, and their faces reflected back to them.

“Her,” he pointed a small finger, his breathing coming in gasps.

Harry turned to the boy more fully, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Lucas, there’s nothing to be afraid of, you’re in control in this classroom, remember?”

But the boy’s eyelids fluttered and his dark pupils rolled back in his head. The fear slipped away and his hands went limp, his wand clattering to the floor.

“Oh Merlin,” muttered Harry.

I’ll Find You In The Dark

Harry and Draco had plans to take Teddy out trick-o-treating. A new skill, misinformation and a break-in veer plans for a calm Halloween off course.

This was the piece I wrote for @ourloveislegendrarry‘s Dralloween. 

I’ve posted it on AO3. Here’s an excerpt - 

“Draco!” Teddy yelled, crashing into Draco’s legs, making him topple over.

“Well someone’s enthusiastic,” said Draco, smiling wryly as he pulled the boy into a hug before getting to his feet.

“We’re going trick-o-treating, Draco! I’m going to get so much candy!” Teddy said, bouncing with excitement as the fringe of hair that was visible through his costume changed colour from brown to the same shade of blond as Draco’s.

Teddy was dressed as a dark grey snake, his small green socked feet sticking out a little way in front of the tail. He looked adorable with his small face sticking out right below the head of the snake.

“Yes, we are. You look great. Where’s Harry?”

At this, the seven year old frowned. “In the kitchen, I think. He said he’s feeling poorly.”

Draco immediately made his way to the kitchen to find Harry bent over the sink, his back muscles stiff with tension.

Murmuring to Teddy to wait in the living room, Draco stepped forward.

“Harry?”

“Hey, Draco,” He greeted, turning to smile weakly at him. Harry looked sick alright. His face had lost its color and his jaw was taut.

“What’s the matter?” Draco asked, cupping Harry’s face in his hands. “You were fine before you left for work.”
