Forks was slick with rain coated ice. The roads were a nightmare, causing two minor collisions which in this town was major news. Farah was covering it. The whos the whats, one person was in the hospital, expected to make a full recovery. It would be a sad, but warmhearted piece. A good note to end on, since her days in this town with warm blood running through her veins were numbered. She was interviewing a woman that lived above a dry cleaners, right where it happened when she saw her. The way she moved was more alluring than any other vampire she’d ever seen. It was almost the walk that gave her away. Volterra, years ago now but a blink no doubt to a vampire, Farah had merely been investigating her mother’s odd Italian disappearance. She’d been roped into the free tour she later learned was indeed the death parade she suspected... but still, she’d stayed with the slackjawed sheep for so long before tearing away. She’d been smart enough to leave Volterra that night... The woman was beautiful. A fisher, Farah knew. Maybe someday her food source.
Seeing her shot ice through her veins. “Excuse me,” she murmured as she stepped away from the woman she was interviewing. She didn’t even want to be seen by the woman, not that she’d remember. Farah didn’t think that such a thing was worth remembering. Either way, she felt it was time to get away before the woman had the chance to make the connection. She slipped down the alley between the dry cleaners and the laundromat and made her way towards her car, as quickly as her walking pace could take her.
