ive been bed ridden with the flu for the past few days. i just started feeling better and this shot into my mind and i could no longer rest until i made it.

im still somewhat delirious so just bear with me, this isnt entirely lore accurate

EDIT- forgot sunstream was retired during the void mission and the flyer for that was sentinel. my apologies to you, sentinel.

extended cast loose fancasting

part 2 of my loose fancast/fc list, see pt 1 for main cast and my steps. not Fully there but they all do have the energy I'm looking for to a strong degree that i can then tweak when I draw them. Some fcs I did not find first and simply adopted from others (see below)

Sentinel - Sean Patrick Thomas (with higher cheekbones. i esp like the grey in his beard to match his temples in his boys gen v role)

buuuut honorable mention to Ellia Green who is an actual trans man that retired from his rugby career to transition and became a dad during that time (ty for finding him @cigarettesandinevitablebetrayal <3)

Blaze - 90s Alfred Molina (i know it does diverge a little from the description of him having "hair as fastidiously maintained as ortega's" in retri ch 16 BUT chen does deserve a decent heartthrob to have had a brief thing with while still being in arguably discount ricardo territory lol)

Halabi - actually having second thoughts on Sreemoye Chattoraj (Bengali Indian, left) whom I used for the first Halabi art I did and being an indecisive mf taking aspects instead from Sabah Jazairi (middle, Syrian)? and then the wildcard of Shohreh Aghdashloo (right, actually Iranian) who I do sometimes think of as a fun voiceclaim for halabi lol and the deepset eyes. either way i do picture halabi as a mid-plus sized hijabi with moles, deepset eyes emphasized by kohl eyeliner, full apple cheeks and the frown lines around the mouth + just generally fuller faced the way Sreemoye is in the below pic. still workshopping her face but swana/desi aunty energy for sure.

Sunstream - Auli'i Cravalho (matches up with the wavy hair thing and imo she'd look pretty cool with the faintly glowing eyes)

Pyroclast - Brett Goldstein (@pyroclaststan thank you this guy's an excellent nazar o7)

Locus - Ayo Edebiri (i don't think i need to say anymore just look at her)

Mia - Brianne Tju (short hair or bob with minimal makeup for Mia always, just hard to find more Tju outside of the film these are from w/o makeup and/or long hair lmao)

Propaganda:

Sentinel: he has the transgender swag, is confirmed a hottie by Wei Chen + his partner, and literally what is more romantic or sexy than being bridal carried by a flier (no don't look at herald we're talking about Sentinel, who isn't a noodle and can actually carry you)

Ricardo Ortega: Vote Ricardo Ortega because if you genuinely want the sexy man (gn) truth, you already know who it is. Everything else is deluding yourself.

@flystep's post had the fhr avatar au grip my brain within moments and rattle it violently.

while i think you could make it work in any avatar era, my own bias goes to korra!era avatar. Mostly so I can shove Chen inside of one of those mechs.

Quick initial thoughts for the RO's + some other relevant characters and what kind of bender/non-bender i think they could be:

Ortega A firebender, specifically one with the lightning sub-bending ability. Which they use more than the actual firebending.

Chen Non-bender, earth-nation heritage (family is from Ba-Sing-Se). In an older era he would be a martial expert, but in the korra!era he would operate those mech-machines.

Lady Argent This one im hesitant on but; Lady Argent as an earthbender and metalbending prodigy.

Herald Airbender is pretty obvious isn't it? Wouldn't work so well in the 100y war era. Although straight up flight is only possible if one 'loses all earthly attachments', and i think herald has a few too many of those. So regular airbending flight with the help of gliders it will have to be.

Dr Mortum Non-bender. Wears clothing that does not identify them as part of any nation specifically. Still a scientist, likely an inventor.

Hollow Ground Waterbender, born in a fire nation colony, mixed nation descend (to make it easier for your sidestep to be any other kind of bender). A bloodbender on the levels of Yakone and Noatak. Does not need a moon, and can fuck with people's bending.

Sentinel Airbender. Less of the flowy movements and uses airbending more in the way Korra bends air. Powerful gusts of wind. Moving like a boxer, less like a monk.

Anathema Waterbender. Uses water laced with other substances that they carry, really add a kick to their fights.

(Bonus) River Becker, my own sidestep I'm inclined to make river a waterbender/bloodbender as well. But that is like giving candy to a baby. Giving the water nerd exactly the power he desires? nah. He could alternatively be an airbender (+spiritbending as sub-bending) or a firebender i think. Or i shall be merciful for once and give him waterbending as he desires.

These are just my interpretations ofc. I'd be interested to hear other's thoughts on character's bending/lack thereof, as well as what they'd imagine their sidesteps would be. 👀👀
