I haven't posted an update on my surgical recovery in a sec, and my post-op is in a week
All in all, it's going great! I've got a lot more energy than I've had in months (years?) and oh my god my back doesn't hurt!!!
I was remembering a job I went out on in October in International Falls, like three days into the pain suddenly getting bad. So they have this Menard's (a Midwestern chain of hardware stores) that's stupid long; I'm not sure if 1/4 mile is an exaggeration. Menard's isn't normally like 1/4 mile long. I was there to pick up something for the job and I needed the bathroom, and I'm not joking when I say some of the signage was so far away I had to squint and get closer, and my glasses give me 20/15 vision. The back pain was so bad that it felt like this damn store was getting longer and the bathroom was getting farther away. Makes me think of ENA: Dream BBQ. When I eventually did reach the bathroom, I just kinda stayed there for a while because I DID NOT want to walk, my back was screaming and sitting was the best thing. The rest of that job fucking sucked because I couldn't stand for more than like two minutes without losing my mind.
That pain didn't go away until I had the hysterectomy
Recovery has sucked so bad with a huge abdominal incision. My huge cat can't sit on my lap, sometimes I need a cane, and I still need a lot of help from others, especially to lift something more than 10 pounds. But it's everything that the fibroid pain is gone and I've noticed how every day I have more energy and less tenderness. In fact I trudged through deep snow the other day and only got a little winded from getting out of shape (probably shouldn't have been trudging snow).
My post-op is on Christmas Eve and I should be cleared to have a bath and lift again!
