LOL. To be fair, knowing me, I’m probably a bit of a C3PO- useless, negative and whining.

sad is my jam
also i didn't like the season. the gun control monologue went strange places and made me really dislike karen. there's that. micro's family and their interactions with frank were the only bright spot
Sorry to hear you didn’t like it! It’s def been divisive. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would.
re: the gun control debate, there was only really that interview with the senator and it was a pretty superficial way of touching on it but I didn’t mind that bc I didn’t expect a Punisher show to take an anti-gun stance lol And I saw Karen’s line of argumentation as her playing devil’s advocate to coax some better answers out of the senator. Don’t feel like we learned anything about her that we didn’t know already (she carries a gun for her own safety, probably to do with that dark past that has yet to be revealed and all the stuff we know happened since). Though I’m an anti-gun European, I don’t see the problem with that, both in the fictional universe this is set in as well in the general gun climate in the US tbh.
re: Micro’s family, I actually expected those scenes to be my faves but they weren’t. They were fine (maybe 1 or 2 too many around ep 7-8) but I didn’t find Frank’s interaction with the kids as endearing as I thought I would. He’s a fucked up individual now, maybe he shouldn’t try his hand at parenting lol I mostly liked those scenes for what they did with Micro’s character and his relationship with Frank, plus some added commentary on the topic of grief and moving on.
But overall I was way more into the whole conspiracy plot. It was straightforward which was refreshing and I dug everything it had to say about shitty US foreign policy/intervention tactics and the military industrial complex and how gun obsession, misplaced military devotion and patriotism intersect. (Military devotion in two ways: Both in the “following orders” mantra and in the way the military is seen as such a crucial part of the identity of the USA while the veterans who serve that ideal are paid dust once they return “home”.)
My favourite characters besides Frank were Micro, Curt, Billy and Dinah... she could’ve been developed a bit more but I liked her role in the story. Wasn’t as much of a fan of the Lewis subplot as most reviewers seem to have been but the resolution made for a creative, entertaining episode.
There were def times during the show where I wondered why I was watching it bc I wouldn’t exactly call it enjoyable in some places but it was very visceral and intense and the pacing was the best out of any of the Marvel Netflix shows... it’s the only one of them that feels like an actual long movie imo. And there was just something about it that spoke to me, it seemed very representative of some part of the American psyche. Plus Bernthal just plays Frank so well as this wounded, raging animal.
I look forward to S2 and hope he also has a short stint in DD S3.
@fibu turned me into a sim ages ago and I'm still in love with little emo me

I’m pretty sure 2018 #1 is going to be a bloodbath between The Expanse and Westworld. But I seriously need new great shows, according to my math I can be down to half of these shows next year if nothing gets renewed.
@fibu
I’m here for 2018 having too many good shows, let those be our problems. I’m wondering how ‘Altered Carbon’ will be, it’s on my radar, but I dunno. Here for The Expanse and Westworld slaying. I’ve given up on Vikings, so that’s down on my list.
Ummmmmmmmmmmm..................... ok, I'll take Waruu in exchange for full rights over Jack.
Wait, that means I get full rights over Jack, right? Yeah ok, I’ll give you Waruu for him, easy. But I might be willing to share him a bit.
Queen Sugar is going to be such a mess next season, especially because I don't see them letting Charley win everything easily.
Charley is never allowed to win easily or for long, the show really loves keeping the hits coming when it comes to her. It really annoys me, especially when it comes to the Landry’s and Boudreaux’s. The show has always been a bit of a mess, but I feel like it’s just gonna keep getting messier. My friend is convinced they’re going for Nova/Remy and I just do not want.
I was hoping for some Seth Numrich staying on Homeland (it's trash but it keeps him on my screen) but it seems unlikely judging by the trailer? But Carrie on roaring rampage of revenge looks interesting. Plus scheming Linus Roache. And I heard they got James D'Arcy too. Ugh. I'm trash, I deserve it.
Oh, Linus Roache, I kinda miss him after Vikings. Hopefully Seth finds a different tv gig soon, I’d hate it if he just bounced off to Bway or something and wasn’t seen again. James D’Arcy too? Damn that show. Still not tempted to come back to it, I quit after S2 and am glad I did.
It was soooo creepy when Strike bought that dress for Robin, he's her boss! But everyone is like aww how cute I want them to bang. No.
Yeah, I wasn’t so bothered by it, because I’m fairly used to such gestures in fiction being swoon worthy and it’s a bit creepy but it could have been worse. I don’t ship them really, but I’m resigned to it happening, so I’m trying to just shrug and live with it. Honestly I hate how 99% of romances in fiction are written and could do without them.

…stealing Waruu from @ captainivyb , plus the story…
@fibu - Wow, 36 shows is pretty impressive. I feel like I probably watched less, but I’m not counting.
Yesssssssssss at The Expanse being high up on your list. Hopefully S3 makes it into your 2018 list as well.
I’m sure S3 will complete that transaction- you can steal trashbag Waruu from me, but I’m keeping Jack Winters. I hardly drink as is, so he’d have no sobriety problems around me, plus I can’t cook for shit, so I’d definitely enjoy his cooking. Hopefully S3 pushes things along more.
Fingers crossed for Good Behavior renewal, but I feel like Newton’s Law is a bust, it’s been like a year since it premiered and no word so far.
LMAO at your commentary about Queen Sugar, I feel you.
Why are you still torturing yourself with Homeland?
Strike was kinda meh for me. I’ll watch it when I’m bored, but S1 was better than S2 (is that how they’re counting it?) so I’m not really invested or eagerly waiting S3.
