Day 31 - Tumblr Challenge
If you could be a fictional character from a movie or a novel, who would you want to be? Why?
As far as fictional characters go, I think I would want to be Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice. I don't really know why, but of all the books I've read, the fictional character I respect the most is her. She is strong and opinionated, and I like how her character develops throughout the book/movie the more she crosses paths with Mr. Darcy.
I've noticed a pattern that a lot of women that stand out to me are women that are not easily swayed by their surroundings and stay true to themselves. Maybe it's something I lack, where I'm easily influenced by peer and societal pressure, but I like women that can set good role models for women to be proud of who they are, who stay true to their beliefs, personalities, whatever. I also like watching how these women grow throughout a certain time period because I do believe that we constantly evolve as people, and it's so great to see women evolving into better versions of themselves. In today's society, sometimes I feel so embarrassed/frustrated being a woman because I see what out society praises and what our society teaches our younger generation of girls. It's sad. Girls grow up to be wishy washy and build themselves upon what other people think rather than to learn to love themselves. Our heroines are portrayed as either clueless, or materialistic, or ridiculously shallow, and this is what we are exposed to as women. We need more heroines that encourage women to take a stand, to be themselves, to love themselves.
Anyways....
