BACKGROUND.
Fearmonger was the last of the Enigma children to be found, and their powers started at a very young age, much like their adoptive parent. So the start of their life is remembered as a horrifying collage of screaming and despair. They could never predict when they’d look into the eyes of an adult and be met with fear and wails of terror. They had no idea it was supernatural powers causing such a reaction from people and therefor they couldn’t control when their powers activated. Gorgon saw a lot of themselves in the child, and thus placed a lot of pressure on their young protégé. Fearmonger has tried to separate themselves from their powers, but their family refuses to let them forget.

POWERS.
With a single look, Fearmonger has the ability to induce fear in whomever they look into the eyes of. Their gaze is one of that generates pure terror; the kind that makes knees buckle and breath stop. They’ve even put some people in the hospital just by creating a panic attack so strong that it caused cardiac arrest. If the eye contact is broken it takes a few minutes for the affect to wear off. Most people who catch their stare run away in fear but there are a few that have trained to be partially immune to it.
PERSONALITY.
Fearmonger was instilled with a sense of duty and responsibility by Gorgon, who saw the most potential in their powers. After all, fear is a powerful tool. They were told to be the best and they tried their best to follow those instructions. But their anxiety and natural clumsiness consistently led them to failure and folly. For that they were teased incessantly by their peers and have developed a need to justify and make up excuses for all their mistakes. They are deeply insecure, and very hard on themselves and sometimes they project and lash out at others. But overall, they are defined by their desire to help others.
CONNECTIONS.
SILHOUETTE - Silhouette has always been the family member that Fearmonger feels that they can truly confide in. It started when they were teens and Silhouette’s projection accidentally walked into Fearmonger’s room and caught them crying. Had it not been for that accident, Fearmonger probably never would have opened up to their sibling. But they still go to each other for a shoulder to cry on, even now as adults.
WARDEN - Fearmonger feels nothing but regret for how they treated Warden when they were young. At the funeral for their younger sibling, Fearmonger realized how silly their petty jealousy was, but they thought it was too late to apologize. Now that Warden is back, Fearmonger is paralyzed by the reality that they must confront the sins of their younger self and actually voice their regret. But the guilt is so strong that they feel tongue-tied at the thought of even seeing Warden. They don’t know if they’ll be able to get the words out.
ZEPHYR - Fearmonger knew that if they weren’t in on the joke with Zephyr, they would become the punchline. So they hyped Zephyr up and laughed a little too hard at every taunt and tease directed at another sibling. Fearmonger knew that Zephyr is a good person deep down, and they weren’t trying to be hurtful, but still Fearmonger dreaded being the one who gets laughed at, so they’d make sure the were the least likely target when possible. Even still, they worry about how Zephyr might roast their life choices.

BACKGROUND.
Florence was not around very often during The Enigma’s upbringing, but they treated her like a cool aunt. She is stoic and unyielding, much like her partner Hollis, but she prefers to let the kids learn lessons for themselves and will let anyone slide on breaking the rules so long as she thinks they won’t do it again. Her mutant ability allows her to sniff out the scent of any mutant. She is the reason The Enigmas were found and brought together. And while she loves The Enigmas, she never stays in one place long enough for any of them to truly get to know her.

POWERS.
Florence possesses a refined mutant tracking ability whereby she is able to sniff out mutant genes. This enables her to track down mutants within a 13 to 15km radius. Her heightened senses are able to lock onto the biosignature of anyone possessing a set of mutant genes who may be in the vicinity, a sense which then leads her in their direction and intensifies the nearer she is located in relation to the individual. Essentially, the closer she is located to them, the more accurately she will be able to pinpoint their precise location. As she travelled the world alongside Hollis, Florence used her power to successfully locate the children they would ultimately adopt and raise as the Enigma team.
PERSONALITY.
Florence is a distinctly multifaceted woman. Generally, she appears aloof and apathetic, and due to her past experience as a mutant who escaped mistreatment and experimentation, she will occasionally display a harsh and resentful disposition. Her remarks, then, tend to be incredibly cutthroat, and she is rarely unfazed. Whilst in the company of any of the Enigma team members, however, Florence becomes a source of affability and a genuine (albeit subdued) kindness. She is level-headed, wise, and benevolent toward them, though insists on maintaining a certain emotional distance at all times. Still, she loves the children and Hollis dearly (even if she does not express it aloud often), and prides herself in embodying a ‘cool aunt’.
CONNECTIONS.
GORGON - Though she wouldn’t call herself a classic romantic, Florence has occasionally admitted, in the hushed whispers of privacy between herself and Gorgon, that she thinks she might have fallen in love at first sight back in that experimental lab. Though Florence was never especially enamored with the idea of having children, she backed Gorgon up when they decided to find the Enigmas, and despite herself, Florence couldn’t help but love those children too. Shortly after, she finally admitted her romantic feelings to Gorgon, and though their relationship is mostly long distance, her feelings have never faded, only grown stronger with time. Florence thinks Gorgon is one of the most steadfast, determined, and ruthlessly efficient people she’s ever met, and she’ll never admit it even under the pain of death, but watching them with the children makes Florence feel downright mushy sometimes.
THE HEADMASTER - If there’s one thing that Florence doesn’t like, it’s gullible people. And also naivete. And pompousness. And people that hoard their wealth. Unfortunately for the Headmaster, Florence thinks all of these things of him and more. She thinks he’s painfully ignorant in his belief that humans and mutants are equals that should be able to happily coexist, and for years she had a whole lecturing speech pent up in her head should she ever have met him. She never did get to give him that speech, and despite all of her negative feelings toward him, she does feel a slight twinge of sadness now that he’s dead. He was a constant, a cardinal point, an ever-present figure in the mutant movement, and it just seems so strange to her to live in a world where he doesn’t exist anymore.
MR. MOE - Florence isn’t sure whether she pities or despises the very idea of Mr. Moe. Such a powerful, fearsome mutant, in her opinion, shouldn’t act like a tame lapdog happily wearing the Headmaster’s leash of polite society. They’ve never met, and Florence would like to keep it that way, though she can’t help but feel some sympathy for him now. With the Headmaster dead, Mr. Moe’s longtime companion is gone, and Florence doesn’t want to begin to imagine the keen pain he must be feeling right now.

BACKGROUND
Zephyr doesn’t remember life before being an Enigma, and they are thankful for that. They couldn’t imagine a better childhood than growing up in a lavish apartment with superpowered siblings. It was chaotic, but they loved that there was never a dull moment. When the team disbanded and everyone started moving out, it took Zephyr a long time to break away. But they’ve found plenty of fun in their new life. They’re still chasing that high of excitement that used to come with being an Enigma, and they’ve turned into a quite a daredevil.

POWERS
Zephyr has two ‘powers’ one of which they aren’t sure is a mutation. They are extremely fast, but it’s within the limitations of typical human ability, so they aren’t sure if that’s a superpower or just a normal genetic advantage. However, their second ability is definitely superhuman. They have an ultrasonic whistle, which first sounds normal but as it increases in volume and pitch it becomes imperceptible to the human ear. However, it can get so loud that is can break glass, rupture ear drums, and even pop blood vessels. A direct blast for more than a few seconds can be deadly.
PERSONALITY
Zephyr is a jokester at heart. They’ve always felt very comfortable in the family and the team, so they feel comfortable pushing people’s buttons and teasing. It’s all in good fun but it definitely rubs some people the wrong way. They tend to take any hatred or retaliation in stride, and not let anything get to them. They know how to provoke people, and sometimes that gets them and the family into trouble. They often don’t know when to stop, and they’ve had to learn their lesson the hard way more than once. They just want people to like them, but they have a hard time knowing where the line is between funny and rude or annoying.
CONNECTIONS.
FEARMONGER - Zephyr always thought that Fearmonger was their best friend in the family. When everyone inevitably paired off and took sides they knew Fearmonger would have their back and it was such a relief to not feel so alone. They thought that their relationship with Fearmonger was perfect, but the first chance Fearmonger got, they bailed and never reached out to Zephyr. Zephyr still can’t understand why someone they were so close with growing up would have no interest in talking to them now. It hurts, but most of all it’s confusing.
RICOCHET - Ricochet has always been an easy target for Zephyr’s jokes. They either don’t mind being teased or they’re too obtuse to realize that they’re the one being made fun of, which makes them the perfect choice. Zephyr knew that Ricochet could probably kick their ass if they ever got upset, but that risk was what made it fun. Zephyr still likes to visit their sibling at home sometimes to say hello and make sure they aren’t too deeply lost in their memories. Honestly, Zephyr wants to help pull Ricochet out of their rut but they’ve never been good at the emotional stuff so they don’t know what to do.
BLITZBANG - Blitzbang was nothing like what Zephyr expected from an Oculus Academy student. when they ran into each other at random, Zephyr though they were in for a fight, but Blitzbang greeted them with excitement, as if they were old friends. The lack of grimdark attitude was refreshing and it started a friendship that Zephyr could not anticipate the longevity of. The two meet up whenever they are in the same city to play games at arcades, see movies, or go bowling. They don’t have to talk about being heroes, they both silently know what it’s like, and that’s enough to connect them deeply.
