So I saw a question about how outcast traits are inherited in Wednesday and I thought I'd share my annalisys here too (and expand a bit on it)

Buckle up for some (amateur) genetics!

Psychic powers

My theory is that psychic powers are X-linked dominant(X chromosome) so they have a higher chance to manifest in women (XX) than in man (XY). As of now, we have Wednesday, Morticia, Hester, Goody, Ophelia, Rowan's mother as psychics in the show and even if s3 whacks us with a male psychic character, my theory would be correct bc males can still inherit the X chromosome from their mothers.

The whole Raven vs. Dove seems to be more about the individual and how they see the world so I'm not gonna take that into account.

So far, the Frump line seems to have a solid connection to psychic abilities that manifest in women. As for Goody Addams, a possible theory is that she is one of those individuals where the gene first mutated into the psychic gene, but I'm not fully convinced of that one.

Electricity

For electricity I would say it's Y-linked dominant bc as of now all characters with electric powers are males (Gomez, Fester, Pugsley). Or it could be X-linked recessive, in which case Wednesday would carry both the psychic and the electricity gene. But in that case the probabily of both Gomez and Fester to manifest it would be low (25%) so my bet is on Y-linked dominant.

Of course, both electricity and psychic could be an autosomal (on any other chromosome than the X and Y ones) trait, not saying no to that (but I find the sex correlation a bit off in that case).

I do not have enough information to say about the rest of the powers, but given Capri's case (werewolf with hyde father) I'd say both hyde and werewolf genes are autosomal, with the hyde gene being autosomal recessive and the werewolf gene being autosomal dominant.

The very very first elves lived in the Feywild, and supposedly came around from Corellon's spilled blood in his battle with Gruumsh, the god of orcs. Back then, they could shapeshift and were extremely powerful. His favorites went on to become his pantheon, not-yet-Lolth included.

Stands to reason that since they literally came from the blood of a god, they should be something analogous to aasimar. Further proof of this: the Avariels were winged elves from way back in history.

Along came a band of Aen Elle. Notoriously world-hoppy and power-hungry, they intermingled with Corellon's blood kids in an effort to get some of their power. Corellon's bloodline loses its ability to shapeshift and become the Eladrin, not quite fey anymore (save for the ones that didn't migrate to Toril because they got steeped in the Feywild for 30k more years after that, but they're not important here).

Also notoriously xenophobic and seeing other non-elf races as beneath them, the Aen Elle back home get appalled by this and cut the elves that intermingled off. The Eladrin are disowned and disinherited by the Aen Elle.

-30k DR. The first elves come to Toril. More elves eventually settle. Etc etc, all of elven history, we now have Moon, Sun, Wood, Wild, and Drow.

Back in Witcher-world (forever mad that the planet/continent doesn't have a name) 2k years pre-Conjunction, some Aen Elle split off from the whole and eventually become the Aen Sidhe. Also post-Conjunction, Lara Dorren happens. All of Continental history here, etc etc.

ANYWAYS. The reason elves look like elves between worlds is because it's the Aen Elle's fault.

It's weird o'clock again and I'm just laying here awake thinking about animals in the world of ATLA and that one farm full of pig hybrids and was thinking about how if any of those produced a regular pig it would probably sell well enough to save that village! But does anyone else wonder if a cow pig and a sheep pig could create offspring? Like would we need to pull out the punnet square to figure out the chances of a cow sheep coming from that? Would the resulting cow sheep be able to breed with a different pig hybrid because both parents were part pig? What about Bosco the "regular" bear? Would he need to mate with a skunk bear or something to make offspring? Would said offspring have a higher chance of being non hybrids or would they be exclusively the mother's hybrid type? Could Turtle Ducks and chicken ducks make super tasty offspring?

If more than one pup is born at the same time ( twins triplets quadruplets) would they be the same dynamic?

Are they identical? If they're identical then it's more likely but if they're not then there's no guarantee. Fraternal twins, triplets, etc. can all look completely different so it stands to reason that their secondary gender could be different as well.

Mousewhisker x Blossomfall (Thornclaw can stay single he's been single his whole life he doesn't need a mate young enough to be his granddaughter)

Hazeltail x Foxleap (wouldn't it be awful for her to die of greencough when her kits are still in the nursery? When he just died of his wounds from the great battle? why not give them Lilyheart and Seedpaw as kits, and make them proper orphaned kits raised by the clan?)

Icecloud x Toadstep (they both died in the same epidemic, can you imagine the trauma for the kits? one of them wanting to become a medcat because of that, the other wanting nothing to do with medcats? idk, drama!)

just a few ships that could have preserved genetics diversity and also made a few litters not even related to Firestar or Frostfur's lines! Meaning the next generation was free to become mates with anyone from those lines, ranging from LionCinder's kits to Ivypool's.

I just wanted to inform you that Hawkheart's fur color made me angry today.

He's called a stone-gray tom with flecks of brown which is impossible! A cat CANT be brown and gray! I could understand if he was cream and gray, or orange and brown, then he would have been a tortie, BUT NOT Gray/Brown!

The only explanation as to why he's like that is that he's a chimera of a brown cat and gray cat.

Otherwise he's genetically impossible.

I'm going to believe you because I know absolutely nothing to cats genetics.

Also maybe he's brown and dark but the dark got paler as he aged? If we're looking for a non-canon but genetically-plausible solution? idk.

never not gonna be mad that Daisy was brought into the clan with THREE kits with no inside DNA at all, then got two more kits with only half their DNA from Thunderclan, and then her line completely died out in two generations (unless Mousewhisker or Berrynose's kits get a mate not too long from now, but for Mousewhisker I doubt it, although they could pull a Thornclaw on us and make him mate with a younger molly once he's almost retired, and for Cherryfall and Molewhisker... well Cherryfall was set up to go with Stormcloud but nothing happened and I think they forgot Molewhisker existed)
