When Leon asked his girlfriend to marry him, it was the most beautiful thing he ever did. Nothing Leon did was without effort or a well thought through plan. He knew everything about her. Favorite food, favorite scent. What places she loves to go. So when he had picked out the perfect ring for her and told her to not plan anything that particular day he knew it would be the most perfect moment in their lifetime.
He kept checking his pocket that day. Not out of nervousness but because that day was the last of being just a couple. How he knew? Because she had talked about how much she’d love to marry him one day, being his wife being her biggest dream. The day was all about her. He took her to the spa, pampering her all up on his expenses. He would wait patiently while she got a full body massage, manicure and pedicure done. She came out where he sat looking more beautiful than ever. Her skin glowing, her eyes full of renewed energy. She thanked him a thousand times both with words and physical touch.
Dinner took place at her favorite Italian restaurant downtown. Red wine and pasta along with talks. His hand occasionally sought out to hers. Her soft skin against his calloused. It was romantic, he would shower her with compliments. He always did. Told her how strong and resilient she was, how she always devoted her time to her job and to him. Everything she did just amazed him. He was so deeply in love with this woman. Sharing dessert was a given. Lava cake topped with her favorite ice cream; vanilla. Oh he knew. She didn’t have to even tell him. Leon swiped the card before taking her hand guiding her out to the car. Heading to their final destination. Her favorite park.
She never once questioned his effort as he always went out of his way for her. Would spoil her rotten every chance he got. The car stopped at the empty parking lot. It was just the two of them, the evening sun casting a beautiful pink hue across the sky. It was like the lords knew Leon’s plan and gave them the prettiest of skies. Hand in hand they walked towards the little pond. Ducks swimming around casting tiny waves across the surface. His hand reached for his pocket. The moment he had planned for months finally here. When she turned to him, Leon on one knee with the black box in hand.
“I knew I wanted to make you my wife the day I met you. Your never ending kindness and courageous mind keeps me grounded every second of the day. Will you marry me?”
He saw her eyes wide, the biggest smile on her face. With an eager nod she threw her arms around him, the happiest squeal escaping her before her lips found his. Leon felt alive all over again. The love for her was endless. And now about to take the next step in their relationship. He knew he had won in life.
