I was thinking about reloading devices in fiction, and I thought about Spy's device from TF2, and how there's a puff of smoke
I also thought about this one scene I wrote a few days ago, where a mercenary disables his and it drops almost instantly because it's hologram-based and it's just like a light switch turning off
This got me wondering, what is the purpose of the puff? Is it just for theatrics? Is it for intimidation? Is it some sort of technological cloud that adds a disguise layer?
I don't have a problem with this, I just think it's interesting how different cloaking devices turn on and off, and how unique each one is in different media
