The soft tapping of rainwater trickling from the rooftop could be heard from inside of Ludwig’s home, almost to the point of being hypnotic. At the moment, however, Ludwig’s attention is currently invested in a new book that he had found at the library, fascinated by the mere title alone. Needless to say the content was strong enough to engross the blond for an extended period of time, enough to distract him from his paperwork. All energy was focused down on the finely printed words lingering on his fingertips, any other noise in the empty household a comfortable hum. 

At least, he had presumed he was alone, until he could hear the vague sound of footsteps in the background. 

He lifted his head up and landed his gaze onto the familiar figure just as she was stepping into the room, his brows lifting to express the mild surprise that he was experiencing. Using his thumb as a bookmark, he used his free hand to close the cover, a silent way of showing that he was now focused on her. 

     “Kat...it’s been a while since I saw you last. What brings you here?”
