“What.” The simple word was filled with dry irritation, and his voice came out quiet and raspy due to being underused. People visiting in the middle of the night were always the best, after all. A few more tweaks to the code here, and… yep, that was it. It was nearly perfect, as usual, just a couple mistakes from what was probably sleep deprivation. Normally Kirai wouldn’t be so gracious when dealing with this guy, but he did just help him with a few other projects. He supposed he could make an exception. That, and it was supposedly urgent (or not that urgent, since I don’t want to bother you!). Wasn’t he relaxing on a boat right now or something? Weirdo.

“Hey, you rabbit-eared freak. I’m sending your crap back.” Kirai pulled up the tab on Mutter, transferring the file back to Nanase. “Is this all you need checked? ‘Cause if it is, I’ve got things to do.” That wasn’t true in the least, but he always acted like this around the other. Eight years had passed but old habits died hard, he guessed.

Mother, mother, mother. She was all he could think of in the strange, overly realistic world derived from memories of the village he grew up in. Well, her and the other children - ghosts of their former selves, horrid and fake and terrifying in their deceased forms.

Tears began to gather in dark eyes, blurring the shape of a familiar blonde boy that did not belong in his past, but existed within his present. Suga wasn’t sure if approaching would be a good idea.
