There’s still seven minutes in 2018 I made it buddy
I did it! I finished 31 fics in 3 months! I did it this is the most I’ve ever written in such a short time! I’m so excited! But I did it and I’m proud of myself!
Here on AO3 or under the cut!
"Daddy!" A little girl with messy black pigtails raced into Lance and Keith's bedroom. "Papí! It's Halloween, wake up, wake up!"
Lance rolled over and nudged Keith's arm. "Wake up, your little Halloween enthusiast is excited."
Keith cracked one eye open. "Oh, my little Halloween enthusiast? I recall you being just as excited as us last night, Papí." He poked Lance's cheek.
Lance proceeded to pull the blankets over his head. "Before the crack of dawn, Ariela's absolutely your little Halloween enthusiast."
"Daddy! I need to put on my costume for school! Daddy!" She tugged on Keith's blanket. "We're going trick-or-treating from class to class, I'm so excited!"
Keith blinked a few times, and Lance took pity on him, sitting up and reaching over his husband to ruffle their daughter's hair. "Alright, sweetheart. Go brush your teeth and wash your face, and then we can see about getting you some breakfast, and then we'll worry about your costume. We have plenty of time, don't worry."
Ariela paused, thinking. She brightened, beaming up at Lance. "Okay!" She ran off, presumably to the bathroom.
Lance fell back onto the blankets. A few seconds later, he snuggled back into Keith's chest. "You do need to get up."
"Five more minutes."
"Come on, babe." Lance sat up and nudged him. When Keith didn't open his eyes, Lance got a mischievous glint in his eye. "Hmm... I think we could arrange some... early trick-or-treating." He lifted a hand to cup Keith's cheek.
Keith's eyes fluttered open and a smirk crossed his face. "Hmm, really?"
Lance grinned and rubbed his thumb over Keith's cheek. "Yeah. Trick-or-treat, Keith?"
Keith sat up and leaned in close to Lance. "Surprise me."
Lance leaned forward the last few inches, guiding Keith closer and kissing him gently. When he pulled away, he rested his forehead on Keith's. "Happy Halloween. I love you."
Keith smiled, eyes still closed. "I love you too."
Day 21(a lot later on here than on AO3 but hey here it is anyway)
Here on AO3 or under the cut!
Keith swung the door to his and Lance's apartment open and was greeted with a mound of cushions, blankets, and pillows piled on top of a mattress in the middle of their living room. He chuckled, turning around to shut and lock the door behind him. "Lance?" He called, setting his messenger bag on the table and draping his coat over the kitchen chair. "Lance, what have you been up do?"
Lance appeared in the doorway, his arms filled with blankets and several small boxes. Keith raised an eyebrow at his boyfriend. Lance added his load to the pile before throwing his arms around Keith. "Welcome home! How was your test earlier?" Lance pressed a quick kiss to Keith's temple and gave him another squeeze before moving around the pile to start sorting the blankets, pillows, and cushions into separate piles.
Keith sighed and sat down on the floor next to a mound of blankets, allowing himself to relax onto them. "Not too bad, but... it could've been better, you know? I only need to have an 84 on it though, so I'm not too worried about it. Just... I'm kind of drained, I guess." He leaned back and closed his eyes. "You still haven't told me what you're up to, Lance."
Lance flopped onto the blankets next to him, a bright smile settled on his face. "We're going to build a blanket fort. And I dug out the Christmas lights because I know you love them and they'll be way prettier than flashlights for inside. Sound good?"
Keith turned to face him, opening his eyes. "Have I told you how much I love you recently?" A fond smile crossed his face. He reached out and wrapped his arms around Lance and tugged him closer to his chest, feeling the heat radiating off of his boyfriend and the steady, calming thrum of his heartbeat.
Lance snuggled close to Keith and laid his forehead on his chest. "Hmm, I don't know, maybe you could remind me?"
Keith laughed, a little breathless. He tilted his head down to kiss the top of Lance's head gently. "I love you." He buried his nose in Lance's hair and continued murmuring quietly. "I love getting to come home to you and our tiny apartment every day. I love getting to wake up next to you in the morning." He shifted onto his back and Lance curled up on his side, tanned cheeks growing pink and a soft smile on his face. Keith kept talking, running his hands through Lance's hair. "I love listening to you talk about your day, and I love how you listen to me talk about mine. I love how you always seem to know when it's been a rough day and you always seem to know how to help." He lifted himself up to see Lance more clearly. He shook his head in disbelief, though he was still smiling. "I keep wondering when I'm going to wake up."
Lance broke out into a smile. "You're not waking up, Keith, I'm here to stay." He leaned in and kissed him gently. When he pulled away, he pressed his forehead against Keith's. "I love you, Keith."
They didn't get around to building that blanket fort until much, much later.
This isn’t my favorite one I’ve written, but it’s done and it’s alright I think.
AO3 and below the cut!
"I bet my pumpkin is going to be so much cooler than yours, Mullet." Lance jabbed Keith's side playfully from where they sat in the backseat of Hunk's minivan. Shiro, Adam, and Allura were seated in the middle seat and lucky Shay got to ride shotgun.
Keith raised an eyebrow to accompany the smirk settled on his face. "Don't be so sure about that." He leaned forward slightly and flicked Shiro on the ear. "Hey, how close are we to the Holt's?"
Shiro rolled his eyes at Keith. "Mature. Hunk took the backroads to pick up Shay, so we're about, what?" He nudged his boyfriend gently. "What would you say, Adam? Five, six minutes out?" Adam nodded.
"Yeah, around there somewhere. Matt texted, by the way. He says they just got back with the pumpkins, so we should just head into the garage when we get there." Keith leaned back once more and snuggled into Lance's side. Immediately, Lance fitted his arm around Keith's shoulder and rested his head on top of Keith's. Another five minutes of cuddling definitely wouldn't hurt.
Pidge sprinted out of the house when the rest of the gang showed up. She waved enthusiastically and hugged them each excitedly in turn. "Guys, I'm so excited you're here! Come on, Matt's just finishing setting up the tables in the garage!" She grabbed Hunk and Shay by the hands and practically dragged them forward. Laughing and shaking their heads, the others followed them.
Matt looked up when they walked in and a wide smile broke over his features. "Hey! Good to see everyone could make it!" He gestured to the two folding tables pushed together he'd clearly just finished covering with newspapers. Around the edges sat nine pumpkins and down the middle of the table conglomerate was an assortment of knives. "Pick a pumpkin and let's get started, shall we?" And that was the last moment of peace they had.
Lance had cut the top out of his pumpkin and now was faced with cleaning everything out of it. He grabbed a scraping tool that Pidge, luckily, had thought to get. Wrinkling his nose, he plunged his hand that was holding the scraper into the cold, wet goop that filled his pumpkin. He worked quickly, digging out handfuls of the slop and dumping them straight onto the newspaper. Keith made a small, satisfied noise. Lance looked up.
Keith had already set down his scraper. "I'm done. Pidge, where should I go wash my hands? They smell like pumpkin." He frowned slightly.
Pidge jerked a thumb towards the house as she finished scratching in her basic design so she could start carving. "End of the hall on your left, there's the bathroom. Try not to make the whole bathroom smell like raw pumpkin, y'know?"
Keith nodded and left to go wash his hands. Lance eyed Keith's newly empty pumpkin mischievously. He grinned and scooped all of the pumpkin goop from both his and Keith's pumpkins into Keith's empty one. Snickering to himself, Lance went back to cleaning out his own pumpkin.
By the time Keith had gotten back from the bathroom, his pumpkin was overflowing with not only his own goop, but everyone else's as well. He rolled his eyes and looked at Lance, who was wearing the most innocent expression known to man. Keith sighed, utterly unsurprised.
"You're proud of yourself, aren't you?" He asked pointedly. Lance couldn't stop the ridiculous grin that spread over his face.
"It was too easy, Keithers. I guess you just can't-" Quick as lightning, Keith had grabbed his pumpkin and overturned it on Lance's head while Lance was busy bragging. Pidge choked and Hunk snorted at the shocked look on Lance's face.
Lance slowly raised his hands to wipe the stringy goop out of his face. A downright evil smirk crossed his expression. "Oh, it's on, Kogane." He bent and scooped up a handful and flung it at his boyfriend. With a high-pitched screech, Keith turned so the impact hit the side of his head instead of his face. Pidge scraped out her pumpkin with renewed enthusiasm, using her scraper as a catapult to fling the discarded glop at her brother. Protesting, Matt started using his emptied pumpkin as a shield to catch his sister's attack and then turned around to dump it on Shiros' head. Shiro shrieked in surprise before joining in on the fun and slipping a clump down the back of Adam's shirt, only further escalating the situation.
Before long, the Holt's garage was covered in slimy orange strings from corner to corner and floor to ceiling. Finally, Lance threw his hands up. "Truce!" Eventually the group reached a ceasefire and they were left to survey the war zone, which quickly set everyone off giggling madly.
A little breathlessly, Shiro regained his composure and gestured apologetically to the garage.
"We'll, ah, we'll help clean up. Right guys?" Everyone nodded, still chuckling as they spread out in the garage to scoop up all the chunks of pumpkin goop strung out around the room. Lance walked over to Keith and nudged him as they went about cleaning the bits of scattered goo.
"You should probably go wash your hands again. They smell like pumpkin."
Shiro looked up when he heard a commotion by the carving table. "Keith, stop threatening Lance with the pumpkin carving tools."
so... looks like I have day 24 here I’m on a roll lately
really really hoping I can kick out the last few days before the end of the year
Here on AO3 and under the cut!
"You have a test today, Keith?" Lance called back into his bedroom, stirring his cup of cocoa. Keith had stayed the night again, much to Lance's delight. Lance turned to put his spoon in the sink, smiling at how domestic it all felt.
"Yeah, math test. I'm not that worried about it to be honest, it should be fine." Keith walked into the kitchen and pulled the cereal out of the cupboard. Lance stared at his boyfriend, train of thought completely lost. Keith sat down to eat his breakfast, looking up after a minute or two to see Lance's incredibly flushed face and ever-so-slightly gaping mouth. "What? Is there something on my face?" Keith raised an eyebrow.
Lance blinked a few times. "Nope. Everything's great," he said in a strangled voice. "Never better." He swallowed thickly. "Keith, is that one of my swim team sweatshirts?"
Keith looked down as though he hadn't realized what he was wearing, then looked back up, grinning. "Yeah, that okay? I've always wanted to do the whole, "steal-your-boyfriend's clothes" thing, and..." he hesitated, getting slightly flustered. "And it smells like you."
Lance buried his face in his hands. "Keeeiiiiith. You're killing me!" He removed his hands to reveal his incredibly embarrassed expression. "You can't just hit me with Bedhead Keith, Sleepy Smile Keith, Adorable Boyfriend Keith, and Wearing My Clothes Keith all at the same time, it's not fair!" He groaned and put his face in his hands again.
Keith smirked. "So... can I keep the sweatshirt then?"
Lance didn't say anything, he just nodded wordlessly. Finally, he composed himself enough to speak. "Please." A pause. "It looks way better on you than it ever would on me, anyway."
Later that day, Keith was waiting for Lance in the library so they could study for a bit and then walk to Lance and Hunk's apartment together. Suddenly, Lance plopped down next to him excitedly.
"Keith, guess what I just realized!"
Keith smiled at Lance's enthusiasm. Quiznack, he loved this boy. "What?"
Lance snuggled into Keith's side happily, giving him a squeeze around the waist. "You're my boyfriend, too!"
Keith laughed quietly and nodded. "Yeah, that's true. Any specific reason for this revelation?" He asked, maneuvering Lance so he was laying on his lap instead.
Lance nodded, still clearly very excited. "That means I can steal your clothes too!" Keith couldn't help but smile at him fondly.
"Do you want a hoodie of mine, Lance?"
Lance nodded, looking away and blushing, almost shy now that this was really happening. "Yeah..."
Keith grinned and played with Lance's hair for a minute. "Okay. Want me to give you a ride back to mine to get that hoodie? I can drop you back at your place?" Lance grinned.
"What I'm hearing is motorcycle and a hoodie from my gorgeous boyfriend, right?" He grinned. Keith leaned down and pecked him on the lips.
"Yeah, that's what I'm saying." He pressed his lips gently to Lance's forehead. "Twenty full minutes of you with your arms wrapped tightly around my waist and us flying down the road at high speed, only for me to give you one of my hoodies I wear to work on Red when she needs a tuneup-" Lance was clearly flustered at the thought, but he was still smiling contentedly.
"Wow, I not only get a Keith Hoodie, I get a Motorcycle Keith Hoodie? I am lucky today, aren't I?" He smiled and held up a hand, which Keith laced his fingers into and gave a light squeeze.
"Come on, we can study later," Keith said, smiling and nudging Lance off of his lap. "Let's go."
Lance linked fingers with Keith and stood up, pulling his boyfriend with him. "Lead the way."
heyyyy so yeah I’m doing all the prompts because I want to and don’t really care that it’s November now
So here’s day sixteen!
AO3 or below the cut!
Lance opened his eyes as he heard the door opening on the first floor. Who was in the house? It had been abandoned for years. He floated down through the second floor only to see a guy around what his age had been when he'd died. He had black hair in, what was that, a mullet? Gross. Nope, no way. He was getting kicked out right now, no one comes into his old house with hair like that. Okay, it was time for the usual antics, this guy would be out of here within the week, guaranteed.
It had been a month, and this guy wasn't gone yet. Honestly, how did anyone deal with this? Lance had never haunted a guy so hard and he just. wouldn't. leave. What the heck? Lance waved his hand and every paper on the desk was whisked onto the floor in a mixed up shuffle. Mullethead just sighed and leaned down to pick them up. What was with this guy? Lance was just going to try harder, there had to be a way to get this guy to crack. Didn't there?
Lance was going to scream. Despite his best efforts of slamming doors, tilting pictures, leaving windows open, and other minor annoyances that people usually got fed up with, this stupid guy was still here. Who did he think he was, honestly. Any sane person would be able to tell you that the house was haunted, didn't this guy understand that that meant he should leave, the house was currently occupied? As in, leave, you aren't welcome here, thanks-for-turning-in-your-application-we'll-keep-it-on-file kind of occupied? Apparently not.
He stood in the corner of the kitchen, being petty and making sure the pot of water on the stove didn't ever get a chance to boil. He'd never even heard the guy talk, and that was quickly becoming Lance's goal. If he couldn't get him to get out of his house, at the very least he could hear what the dude sounded like. Just to make sure he didn't have a really weird voice, or sound like a serial killer, not because he thought it would be a pretty voice or anything. No, it would only be to make sure he wasn't weird. That was it. Lance sent another cold draft around the pot of already-ice-cold water. Mullethead came back into the kitchen and picked up a package of instant noodles, going to put them into pot. Just before he poured them in, he paused.
"What the?" Mullethead scowled and held a hand over the water, then tentatively tapped the side of the pot with the back of a finger. "How in the-" He rolled his eyes and turned to look straight at Lance. Lance's eyes widened and a shocked look settled on his face. Could he... see him? Mullethead held up the noodles. "Really, man?" Lance just stared, unable to believe that this was actually happening. Meanwhile, the guy was still talking. "Slammed doors, open windows, creaking in the middle of the night, I can handle. I can take care of myself, y'know? But seriously? Messing with a guy's Ramen Noodles? Not cool, dude."
Lance blinked a few times. "Have you been able to see me the whole time?"
"Was all that stuff just for attention? You could've said something, I would've talked to you." The guy chuckled and rolled his eyes. "So yeah, the answer's yes. I've been able to see you since day one when I bought the house." He put down the instant noodles. "The guy who sold it to me said it went back on the market frequently- and local rumor was that it was haunted."
Lance smiled in spite of the recent and somewhat confusing turn of events. "Yes, well, this time the rumors turned out to be true. Here I am, in the flesh." He paused when he realized what he'd said. "Well, you know what I mean. In the ghostly flesh." To his delight, Mullethead barked out a short laugh.
"Well, now that we're talking, do you think you could cut out all the haunting business? I mean, not like I'm trying to kick you out or anything-"
"Yeah, good luck with that, this was my house before you bought it. I've been trying to kick you out for weeks. You're... you're pretty tough I guess." Lance sighed dramatically. "I guess you can stay. Now that I know you don't sound like a serial killer or anything." He shrugged and pulled his legs up so he was sitting cross-legged in the air. "The name's Lance. What's yours?"
Mullethead smiled almost fondly. "Hello, Lance. I'm Keith, nice to meet you. So, are you going to stop all the haunting stuff now that you know I can see you?" He pressed.
Lance hesitated, but figured it would be nice to have someone alive to talk to around the house. Keith did have a nice voice, after all. "Ugh, fine, I'll stop," Lance conceded, putting up his hands in surrender.
Keith smiled at him. "Finally." He turned back to his pot of water that was now boiling merrily, dumping in his noodles and turning down the heat. "So, this makes us roommates, doesn't it? Now that we're both aware that the other knows we exist, I mean."
Lance couldn't help but laugh. Keith was kind of cute, honestly. "I guess it does." He floated over to peer over Keith's shoulder into the pot on the stove. "I guess it does."
day 22(also a LOT later on here than it was on AO3 but here it is hahahaha bye)
Here on AO3 and under the cut!
Lance stared at Keith with wide eyes. "You... You're a..." He shook his head as though to clear it.
Keith nodded slowly. "I'm a vampire, yes. I know I should've told you earlier, but I was a bit worried about how you'd react... Please don't hate me-"
Lance took Keith's face in his hands and looked him right in the eyes. "I'm not mad, babe." He punctuated the reassurance with a kiss on Keith's nose. "I promise I'm not. I'm just in a bit of shock right now, is all." He proceeded to smooth back Keith's bangs and kiss his forehead before wrapping him in a gentle hug. "A vampire, wow," he chuckled. "You do know how kinky that sounds?" Keith sputtered and pushed himself out of Lance's arms.
"Lance!"
A few hours later, the two were cuddled up on the couch in their living room, finishing Tangled- Lance's pick. Keith had his arms wrapped around Lance's waist, and Lance was covering Keith's hands with his own. As the credits started to roll, Lance twisted in Keith's arms until he was facing his boyfriend.
"Hey Keith?"
Keith smiled and placed a hand on Lance's cheek, swiping his thumb back and forth under Lance's eye. A fond look settled on his face. "Yeah?"
"I... I was wondering a few things. And... by that I mean... y'know... Vampire stuff." Lance averted his gaze to Keith's shirt, absently stroking the pattern on the front of it. "And you don't... you don't have to, y'know, answer them or anything, but... I just... there are a few things that I'm kind of realizing now and-"
Keith pressed a soft kiss to his rambling boyfriend's mouth. "Fire away. I really don't mind, Lance. Ask me anything you want."
Lance took a deep breath and nodded, biting his lip. He looked up at Keith through his eyelashes, and offered a small smile. "You sure?"
Keith chuckled quietly, nodding. "I'm sure. Go on, I know you want to."
Lance breathed a sigh, closing his eyes and nodding a few more times, pausing to collect his thoughts. "Okay." He opened his eyes. "How many of the myths are true? Can you really not see your reflection? What about garlic? If you can't have garlic what have you been doing this entire time when I make garlic knots? Can you do the running thing? Can you teleport? What about the silver thing? Are you actually invincible? What about the wooden stake thing? The whole burning in the sun bit? Oh, what about holy water? Crosses?" Lance finally ran out of breath and stopped talking for a minute, looking up at Keith eagerly.
Keith couldn't help but laugh. "You're adorable, you know that?" He smiled. "Some of the myths are true, yeah. The reflection one used to be, but they stopped making mirrors backed with silver, and that was the problem all along, so I show up in the mirror now. Something about silver being blessed, and therefore it won't even interact with us." He shrugged, rolling his eyes. "Garlic doesn't hurt me, specifically, just kind of gives me indigestion. But really, who can pass up your garlic knots, they're amazing." Keith started ticking things off on his fingers. "Running thing, no, I can teleport really short distances, I'm working on it, silver does irritate my skin, but it doesn't burn me or anything. I haven't pressed my luck with the whole invincibility thing, since I'm not sure how invincible I am, nor have I been stabbed with a wooden stake... or encountered holy water or crosses, for that matter, but yeah, the sun does give me a pretty severe allergic reaction." He smirked. "There is actually a reason I wear a hoodie every single day of the year and this stupid baseball cap. Between the two, I'm usually alright." He cupped Lance's face again, dropping another kiss on his lips. "Keep 'em comin'."
Lance grinned. "What about the compulsive counting thing? Do you have to sleep? Or eat? Where do you get your blood? Wait, if you don't have to sleep, do you sleep? Or do you just stare at me all night? Is this why your hands and feet are always so cold? Does anyone else know? Does Shiro know? Were you born a vampire? Can that even happen?"
Keith smiled as Lance continued to ask questions: endlessly curious, apparently. Lance seemed... interested. Intrigued, fascinated even. And it was completely adorable.
It was then that Keith decided... maybe this had been a good idea after all.
and here’s the second of the three quick posts I still have thirteen minutes in 2018 don’t @ me
Prompt 30!!! Inspired by this comic by @belmeran!
Here on AO3 or under the cut!
"Alright, Keith. I think I'm done. Three hours of painstaking crafting, four paint spills, two different hot glue burns, and last but not least, one cut, but I'm done." Lance turned around to show Keith his elaborate vampire costume, but he stopped short once he saw what Keith was holding. "Keith, what..."
Keith held a simple white sheet in his hand. He threw it over his head and lined up the holes he'd cut for his eyes. "Boo!"
Lance laughed, walking over and pulling the sheet off his boyfriend. "Keith, did you really take three hours to make this?"
Keith looked away sheepishly. "I... I kept getting distracted."
Lance threw up his hands exasperatedly. "For three hours?"
Keith flushed. "It's just... you're really pretty when you get into something, and... you were really into making your costume, so..."
Now it was Lance's turn to blush. "K-Keith! You can't just, just say stuff like that!" He clutched his heart dramatically. "You flatterer."
Keith broke out into a grin, still pink-cheeked. "Is it flattery if it's true?"
Lance raised an eyebrow and draped his costume and Keith's ghost sheet over a chair. "Oh, so that's how you want to play?" He leaned forward and hooked his fingers through Keith's belt loops, tugging his boyfriend closer to him. "Am I pretty now? Cause I'd say I'm pretty... into you."
Keith swallowed hard. "Yeah." He stepped back, pulling Lance over to the couch with him. "Yeah."
They could return to the costumes later, right?
Spoiler: it was a while before they would even think about it again...
Hey it’s still 2018 here for another 18 minutes so get ready for three quick posts because I FINISHED ALL 31 PROMPTS FINALLY
This was much more of a success than Inktober was
So here is prompt 29!
Here on AO3, also under the cut!
"Oh, hey Keith! Come here a sec!"
Keith turned abruptly to see the team in the lounge, Lance waving him in excitedly. Hesitantly, Keith walked in and took the open seat between Lance and Shiro.
"We checked your room, but you weren't there. Lance was about to come look for you," Hunk said from Lance's other side. Keith looked around, still confused.
"What... what are we doing?"
Lance grinned gesturing to Allura and Coran across the circle. "We're explaining Earth holidays to Allura and Coran! Halloween, right now."
Allura nodded. "Coran thought it would prove interesting, and I'm pleased to say that it has been so. You are quite a fascinating species, you Earthlings." Pidge cleared her throat and Lance jumped back in.
"So, what did everyone do for Halloween when you were a kid? Keith, do you want to start?"
Keith shrugged. "Dad and I never really celebrated in the way you're probably thinking. No neighbors to do trick-or-treating, and the desert didn't really cater to elaborate costumes, so..." He paused. "Mostly we'd just build a fire outside and tell ghost stories and talk about aliens or something all night." He shrugged again.
Lance blinked at him. "Well you can't just never experience trick-or-treating. How about this: when we get back to Earth, you can come help me with my nieces and nephews." Lance seemed to suddenly realize what he'd just said and he backpedaled. "I mean, only if you want to. Not that you have to, but I think it'd be fun, and I'm sure they'd love you, and-"
"Sure." Keith couldn't believe he'd just said that, but he plowed forward anyway. "That sounds... great, Lance. Count me in." Shiro nudged Keith and wiggled his eyebrows, earning himself a hearty glare from Keith. Unnoticed by Keith and Shiro, Lance was getting much the same treatment from Hunk on his other side.
Pidge looked at Allura and Coran and just shook her head. "Well, when Matt and I were little..."
