   The soldier held steady to his promise, merely accepting any form of punishment the attackers dealt him. Never would he betray the people who gave him salvation, never would he dishonor their names, and never would he jeopardize those who had nothing to do with this quarrel.    Still they hounded him, a blow dealt to his already bloodied and bruised face each time he refused to concede. A knee to the stomach, kick to the ribs, it all went. He kept his mouth shut, though tasted the repugnant metallic edge of blood. 5 to 1 was an unfair advantage, but Levi couldn't  help but smirk then as he realized it took that many to keep him down.

          ' Kill me if you want, but keep in mind you'll be losing your strongest soldier! '

   Vision blurring, spinning from heavy hits to the head, the assailants gripped his hair, slamming his face into the muddy ground, and Levi did not rise again.
