Pairing: Ice Skates (Jackson and Zoe)
Plot: In which the two dorks teach each other how to dance and wind up in some compromising positions. Romance ensues.
”But then you found me and everything changed And I believe in something again.”
”Please, it’ll be fun!” the spirit pleaded, prodding at her couch-ridden boyfriend. “Dance with me!” she said, looking up at him with wide blue eyes, fluttering her eyelashes at him.“Pleaseee?”
He chuckled, swinging his legs over and standing up. “I can’t dance though.” he said, trying to sound annoyed despite the large grin on his face.
She smiled, grabbing his hand and intertwining his fingers with hers, pulling him close.
“Same here.” the blonde murmured, dropping his hand and wrapping her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. “Let’s teach each other.”
His arms found their way around her waist and she turned her head, locating the stereo behind her. The blonde kicked backwards, mentally hoping that she would hit the on button. Music flooded into the room and she chuckled, surprised that it had worked and that she hadn't broken it.
And they just stood there, leaning against each other, listening to the music swirling around them. Their breathing eventually matched up as they stood there, enjoying each other’s presence.
After a couple moments, Jackson’s voice broke the silence. “What are we doing?” he asked with a light chuckle, tilting his head away in order to meet her gaze.
”We’re ‘not dancing’, what does it look like we’re doing?” Zoe answered with a small smirk, pulling away and grabbing his hand again. “But let’s go back to what I originally said. Let’s teach each other how to dance.” she offered, twirling into him in rhythm with the music.
”And we just, kind of, untwirl, I think.” she mumbled, mainly to herself as she spun back around, getting tangled with his arms and tripping, falling into his chest with a small squeak. He laughed, grabbing her by the shoulders and helping her regain her balance.
Inky blossoms of red coloured her pale cheeks as she looked at him, the nervous chuckle escaping her lips almost totally muffled by the sound of the music playing. "Do over?" she asked finally, and he laughed, nodding and grabbing her hands again.
"You ready this time?"
"Why're you asking me, Zo? I'm not the one who fell."
"Shut up!"
And with that, they started again. Swaying to the music, their eyes trained on each other's movements.
One, two, three, twirl, untwirl, don't fall into Jackson.
Success!
Their hands now clasped together, the two teens stared at each other, sheepishness evident on both of their faces. Jackson was the first to speak.
"So what do we do now?" he asked, raising his eyebrow at glancing downwards at their hands. Zoe chuckled, attempting to make it look—and sound like she knew what she was doing.
Which she didn't. At all.
"Well, you see, we, uh, kind of, well..."
"You have no idea."
"Exactly."
They laughed, their grips on each other loosening as they dissolved into giggles. Zoe looked up with big blue eyes, bright with happiness and laughter.
"Do over?" she repeated after a moment, tightening her grip on his hands again.
"Alright." the brunet replied, about to twirl her again, but she stopped him.
"Wait, lemme jus' put the sound up louder." she mumbled, letting go of one of his hands to spin around and turn the knob of the stereo before turning back around to face him.
"Ready?"
"Lead the way, Ice Spice."
A roll of the eyes before pulling him close, stealing a quick kiss. She pulls away just as quickly as she pulled closer, evening out the space between them again. Wordlessly, following the music, the two of them swayed together, leaning towards and away from each other, occasional twirling of the smaller of the two.
They got more into it as they went on, spinning in and out of each other, switching hands, letting go and then holding them again. Laughter rang out around them, melding with the music playing loudly in the background.
And then it happened.
Jackson's foot hit the rug and it slid, causing him to trip. Having noticed, Zoe grabbed his hand and pulled him in an attempt to get him to not fall. Instead, he pulled her down with him, landing hard on his back. She, however, fell onto his stomach, arms on either side of him and face buried into his chest. She pushed herself up with a small groan, looking down at him with a small smirk on her face.
"You planned this, didn't you?" he asked, rolling his eyes at her, and trying to wriggle out from her grip.
"I really didn't, just a sweet coincidence." she replied, sitting up onto his legs. She reached over him to turn the music down before sitting back down on him, resting her hands on his chest.
Zoe slid them down his chest before suddenly leaning over and kissing him, gripping his shirt. He kissed back almost instantaneously, wrapping his arms around her. She sat up again, pulling him up with her and shifting on his lap, their lips never parting. She reached up to cup his face, pulling herself closer to him in the meantime.
Tick tock, tick tock,
A couple minutes later, they pulled away, breathless. Blue eyes met brown as they panted softly, and she rested her forehead against his, kissing him gently again before pulling away.
"I think we should dance more often." she mumbled, nodding as she spoke and she pulled away, sitting comfortably on his lap and staring into his eyes.
"Agreed."
Silently, Zoe wrapped her arms around him, burying her face in his chest and hugging him tightly. He returned the gesture, holding her against him as if she would disappear right out of her hands.
They pulled away after a moment and she slipped off of his lap, standing up from the floor and holding her hand out so he could pull himself up, which he gratefully took.
They linked hands, intertwining their fingers. Together, they walked out of the room, only pausing so Zoe could bend down and turn off the stereo, before turning back to her boyfriend.
"I love you, Butthead."
"I love you too, Ice Spice."
