It's just above freezing out there--in Florida, I remind you, none of us are acclimated to that--and the young lady is having a busy busy baby day.

Tristan's reward for pausing the Puppy Whirlwind and sitting patiently with STUFF all over him (this time, wizard hat and cape): he gets to carry it off and play with it! The human may even play-chase and tug, if the stuff can handle the gentle mauling.

There is nothing quite like the head-high proud trot of a spaniel with a mouth full of exciting toy.

Tristan does still fidget every twenty minutes or so all night. Some nights he snuggles a skull and just sort of stretches and wriggles then resettles in the same spot.

Some nights he does this:

* perched between pillows

* slid down in front of the pillows, but trying to squeeze between them

* resting his head on the pillow like a people

* doing a 180 and resting his head on Yvaine's rump instead

In between he entertains his sleeping self by yo-yoing back and forth and trying to merge his body with one of ours, by squirming so close he gets actually into the flesh. This, however, is normal cocker behavior, and by now we can sleep right through it, unless he starts to push us entirely off the bed.

Tristan the Fidget Puppy seems (at approximately 18 months of age) to have abruptly worked out a way to fidget every twenty minutes all night, but without getting up and moving across the bed, under the bed, across the room, and so on. He is staying mostly on our pillows, occasionally between us or at our feet, and when he needs to fidget, he only rolls over or stretches or shifts his position on the pillows.

Puppy has become a consistent night skull snuggler and human cuddler.

I would wonder if it had anything to do with the long vet visit last week and the antibiotics (either helping, or making him feel sick and needy)--except he suddenly started the extra cuddles the night BEFORE that vet visit.

Insomnia photos: I went to the kitchen to get a cup of water, told the Spaniels to stay. I brought them carrots, though. Tristan was still curled up around Tristan's Fetch and Tug Buddy... and ate the carrot, open-mouth crunching and all, without getting up or waking TFaTB. Then he settled back into his comfy skull snuggles and everyone went back to sleep (except me).

Insomnia photos: I was trying to get a pic of Tristan snuggling between the humans, and he fidgeted. Without waking up, Tris just reached over and grabbed onto my arm with his chin, and sank back into total, limp unconsciousness. He stayed there for about half an hour, which appears to be his maximum without fidgeting again.

I think Tristan missed us yesterday. Fidget puppy spent the night on Tristan's Fetch and Tug Buddy's pillow, and the day alternating between us, or just plain between us.
