Field Station Friday - What is the field station? Its my favorite section of "campus" located about 10 miles away in Whately Ma. The building is beautiful and super green, the woods are stunning and peaceful, and the whole space is yours. Once a week, you can take a van up to MacLeish and spend the afternoon there, inside or out, doing whatever you like. Smith Alums and folk duo Hannah and Maggie have even performed there! First year, I went often to collect maple sap (check out a video here http://www.smith.edu/video/maple-sugaring-macleish-station !), but I've also been for an art class (the assignment was to create an ephemeral art installation) and to camp (you can join a coop style gear rental at the boat house and borrow what you need)!! Some people graduate without going to MacLeish, don't be one of them!
