Korra bending Stone (closed)
"Hey Korra" stone smiles "been a while."
Azula stared up at the pro-bending arena building with a smirk. She had a job at the power plant, and she didn't want to draw so much attention to herself that being a probender would. But sometimes, sometimes she would come out to look at the building and imagine. It would be nice, to hear the roar of the crowd around her, cheering her name.
It would also probably give her war flashbacks. She wasn't used to using her bending for games; she was used to fighting with lethal force. There was no way she'd be able to re-train herself to not be deadly. Pro-bending was a bad idea. Still, it was nice to dream. She smiled softly, lost in her thoughts as she stared at the beautiful building.
These little stands had been popping up all over the city lately. A raised platform, a banner in the back, and a man, shouting about how the benders of Republic City were oppressing the non-benders. She had to admit, the more she listened, the more she found herself agreeing with it. Leave it to Zuko and Aang to build the capital city of their 'shining new era' on the backs of everyone they'd decided was 'lesser' than them. After all, one only had to look at what they'd done to Azula to see that in action.
Azula had been cold, had been efficient, but she'd only ever gone after military targets. (Child or not, the Avatar was a military target--he was a warrior fighting against the Fire Nation.) When she'd conquered Ba Sing Se, she'd done so without a single drop of blood being spilled, save the Avatar alone. She had acted as a military tactician and fighter, but for the most part she actually had been an honourable opponent against the Avatar. Zuko, on the other hand, had been a thief and at times a bandit, but how easily history had forgiven him. He was on the 'right' side and that made him 'good', his actions 'justified'; while Azula had been on the wrong side of history and was therefore recorded as 'evil'.
She'd eventually shattered under the force of what was going on around her, and so Zuko had 'mercifully' had her put in a mental asylum rather than prison. For two long years she had screamed every day that she would rather have faced execution than another instant in the asylum. The nurses were cruel, not physically but emotionally torturing her with infantilisation and patronisation, even going so far as to speak in baby talk to her and pinch and pat her cheeks. When Koh had offered her the opportunity to escape, she hadn't needed to think twice.
She'd been in Republic City nearly seven years now, and the asylum was little more than a dark nightmare that haunted her sleep. Hearing of the troubles of the people Zuko and Aang had decided were 'lesser', though... That was stirring some long-dead feelings inside of her. Azula had tried to settle into her life here, being a peasant and working at the power plant for a living. As long as she was out of the asylum, she would find some kind of gratitude within herself for that much.
But now, listening to the impassioned orator speak, she felt those old leanings towards wanting to do something with herself, wanting to be something, wanting power and adoration, all those old feelings were stirring back to life. What better way to make something of herself than to accomplish everything at once? She'd be on the right side of history this time, she was sure of it, rescuing downtrodden people from cruel overlords. In so doing, she'd get to tear apart Zuko's shining city, maybe even smash the statue of him if she was lucky.
Subconsciously, she was drifting closer to the platform, her face upturned with a look of pure pleasure and excitement, eager to help and get involved. Of course, she reminded herself quietly that likely they wouldn't appreciate her help since she was a bender herself. If only there was some way to get close to them, and prove her dedication to their ideals...

The Enforcer nodded at the Water Tribe woman. They noted her bearing as a fighter, and remained on guard.
