A beautiful skipper perched in the sunlight, spreading her wings to communicate with an interested male! This lovely lady was sitting in the sun with a male of her species, fluttering around with him intermittently. She didn't seem very receptive to his behavior, and he eventually left, so I assumed he was rejected. After their interaction, she continued to pose in the sun, so I took my chances and got this nice shot! Bitterweed is less plentiful in the pastures at this time of year, so skipper numbers are declining for the season, meaning these guys were a bit of a treat to see. Hopefully I can catch a few more before the season ends!
