The hedgehog was rather proud of himself. Though he'd gotten a little burnt in the process on his arm, which he tried to hide, he'd gotten some materials for making his homemade disinfectant. Wasn't that worth being happy about? Though he was quick to shake his head, his own smile lessening. He knew there wasn't really much to actually smile about.

"Well, anyway, today was productive."

Using his psychokinesis, he sets the materials down in a corner of the room, where they kept medical supplies. Deep breath in, and release. Same toxic air as always, but his damaged lungs were accustomed to it all. He stared out into the darkness, a darkness of which the only light was the flames.

"You always make it back here before me. I don't know how you run so fast, and jump so high. It's really pretty, though."

               expecting to spend New Year’s Eve at a party, surrounded by unfamiliar faces, but he’d somehow been dragged to one anyway. Now he’s just trying to survive until midnight, and it’s awfully close. Maybe after midnight, he can slip away unnoticed.

               But he’s been found in the corner that he’s claimed as his, talked to by a stranger, and he freezes for a moment, uncertain of what to say. Well, I can hope, but…
