My advice to you: Marry someone who is interested in you, I don’t mean someone who thinks you are cute or funny. I mean someone who wants to know every significant detail about you. Someone who wants to read every word you write, even if its just venting after a hard day. Someone who wants to hear you sing your favourite song, even if you are completely tone death. Someone who wants to explore every part of your body, even if with time they realise it carries scars from the past. Someone who wants to know your favourite movie, secretly hate it but watch it a million times anyway. Someone who knows all your favourite quotes and has the knowledge of why they resonate so deeply within you. There is a difference between attraction and interest. I am so grateful I have found the person who has learnt every aspect of who I am. We don’t get to hang, just us. The reality of raising kids, life far away from any family support. Spoiler alert - Not every day in motherhood is delightful. Some days just smack you right in the gut and leave you breathless. I am functioning on about 3 hours of broken sleep due to Declan deciding sleep was over rated, the dogs imaginary friend returned, which started a big bark/ play fiesta and Savanna chose today of all days to wake up before the birds. I honestly don’t know how I survived the newborn stage - twice. The day was endless & to cap it off. All I wanted was a nice hot shower to wash away my exhausting day and feel clean. But alas, the kids wanted a big bubble bath , which used up all the hot water, so there I stood, under the luke warm/ turning cold water defeated 😑. I’m hoping tonight Declan realises how much he missed his sleep, Savanna waits for the birds and the dogs imaginary friend goes back to where ever the heck he/ she/ is from. So this is me - exhausted, 7 days in parenting solo, dirty unkept & feeling a bit sorry for myself.
