So yeah beginning with Jacob. He is an poor guy that overworked himself before the war bucz he born into a poor family and his parents did nothing but expect that Jacob just work work and work. Something that really affect him making him have think if he does nothing but work the people around him will hate him, Jacob usally forgot stuff due overworking to himself even causing problems and not having to much human interaction at times.

Klaus/Karl in the other hand was from a family of high status. Despite his appearance he is very nice and kind around people (specially women). unfortunately due a rumor around his family he was disowned and left behind his life was a noble. Despite that he demostrate how much he can be a leader to the Grade zu Fuß's army.

Jacob admires Klaus just like he does with Jean but he thinks he will never be better than Klaus no matter what.

Meanwhile Klaus respects Jacob. He is very nice to him and even helps him. Not only that, Klaus reminds Jacob to take care of himself (ex. Ask him to take a shower or give him food).
