First look at the design for the 2019 fifty-pence coin marking the 160th anniversary of the birth of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes.
I’m not going to lie, I’m a wee-bit disappointed. The reverse design, by Stephen Raw, isn’t the most inspiring; for what was a groundbreaking creation it seems somewhat bland, in my opinion.
No details yet on the release date, circulation status, or mint figures. It’s also not available to purchase as an individual coin as of writing; those wanting one early shall have to purchase a 2019 UK Coin Annual, such as the one below, from the Royal Mint themselves:
