Just got back from the vet with Olly and Elle. Olly got some fluids and a B12 shot. His vet agreed to order the Feline Interferon from The UK and she and I worked on that together this afternoon. I'm am thankful that my vet is being caring of Olly's needs. He is very sick and has lost weight. We have officially put him on an appetite stimulant and I will be doing more assisted feedings with him. He is very agitated right now. I feel so bad. He is going to need heaps of prayers and honestly, I could use them too. Much love and hugs to you all. Olly ate quite a bit last night, but to put it plainly, FIP steals proteins from the body. He is very skinny, but still shows interest in life. He is still curious about certain things. I had to leave the house for an hour earlier and he came to see me when he got home. He is sitting with me just purring away. I have feelers out to a few vets about ordering Feline Interferon from the U.K. No answers yet, but I just found out, for Olly's weight, it will cost around $450 a week to put him on it and it hasn't had consistent results. Sorry for the bad lighting, but I'm in 100% mommy, 0% photographer mode right now. Olly just had another dose of steroids and he perked up again. I was so happy to see that he jumped up on my desk for a visit right after he ate some food. I received an email from his veterinarian and she is sending the tests off and is willing to order Interferon if the PCR comes back positive for the FIP mutation. You all are amazing. In case anyone is interested, I reached out to Dr. Pendersen, who is a FIP researcher at UC Davis in California. He has made a huge impact on the discovery of cures and treatments for diseases and viruses that affect cats. He has an interesting biography. Unfortunately, he is so busy and gets so many inquiries about FUP treatment that he had to give me a canned response. Here is is if you want to read it. I will personally be donating to his research. Oliver managed to get on the sink this morning, as he likes to stand guard while I shower. It seems silly, but I have always found comfort in him being there.
