Just got back from the vet with Olly and Elle. Olly got some fluids and a B12 shot. His vet agreed to order the Feline Interferon from The UK and she and I worked on that together this afternoon. I'm am thankful that my vet is being caring of Olly's needs. He is very sick and has lost weight. We have officially put him on an appetite stimulant and I will be doing more assisted feedings with him. He is very agitated right now. I feel so bad. He is going to need heaps of prayers and honestly, I could use them too. Much love and hugs to you all. As each day passes, I can see Oliver getting weaker. Each day, he does more sleeping than moving around. I started him on the human Interferon this morning, but if he continues to decline, I won't let him suffer. I keep a close eye on his breathing for any sign of struggle and so far so good on that front. One lead I was working on fell through, so we are only left with experimental drugs that statistically speaking do very little to kill the virus. Words cannot express the emotions I feel, but I will say they swing from gratitude for all the love and support here, to feeling hopeful and to feeling helpless and utterly sad. #prayforolly #prayforziva #ilovemycat #catmom
I tried the "purrito" method when feeding him in the hopes that he wouldn't fight back so much. Now he is hiding under the bed and is quite mad at me. He drank tons of water, but he isn't eating. I just finished bottle feeding Olly. I didn't feel he was getting enough calories and liquids, so I mixed water and food and he ate a tablespoon. I'll try to get him to eat that much every few hours. Thank you @karik1018 for the great suggestion. I'm still praying hard for Ziva's healing. Olly is about the same as he was yesterday. In case anyone is interested, I reached out to Dr. Pendersen, who is a FIP researcher at UC Davis in California. He has made a huge impact on the discovery of cures and treatments for diseases and viruses that affect cats. He has an interesting biography. Unfortunately, he is so busy and gets so many inquiries about FUP treatment that he had to give me a canned response. Here is is if you want to read it. I will personally be donating to his research. Oliver managed to get on the sink this morning, as he likes to stand guard while I shower. It seems silly, but I have always found comfort in him being there.
