Anakin supposed he shouldn’t take so much pleasure in the terror filling the luxurious apartment, but as Luke was not here to disapprove, he was going to indulge.
“Sky…walker!!” choked the Bothan senator in his hold. “How…DARE….urk!!”
Anakin flung him into his creamy nerf leather sofa, and Fey’lya’s fur rippled in all sorts of panicked colors as he crawled toward his commlink on a side table.
“Ah, ah,” Anakin scolded lightly, using the Force to whip it out of the Bothan’s reach.
“You will be…ARRESTED for this!” Fey’lya whimpered, and yes, those were actual tears in his eyes. “The New Republic will not STAND for—!”
“Treason?” Anakin purred, moving slowly into the suite and over to the viewport. “I agree, they tend not to look at that too favorably.”
@petalstofish and @zephyrcove requested (demanded) more Hunger Games content from me back in July. I finally edited it and here it is!
It's set in the universe of my multichap Fighting the Odds, but you can read it independently if you want!
His favorite color is green.
He takes sugar in his tea, he doesn’t like to sit in the quiet for too long, he used to read a lot when he was a kid, he’s friends with almost everyone he meets, he always brings home something sweet for his mother, he hasn’t bought anything for himself since they got back, he goes on runs every morning, he hasn’t been eating well, and he’s still worried that his friends are upset with him.
He loves her, too.
Though he hasn’t told her this since the first time on the train, because despite how optimistic they had been, things were not easy once they got back to district twelve.
They were moved into the victor’s village with Moody, paraded around town with the mayor, and coached through interviews by Umbridge. They needed to learn how to act around one another when no one else was watching them, but the opportunity didn’t present itself until more than a month after the games ended.
Hello! Was wondering if you could do some prompts like about being strong and fighting the odds no matter how much it hurts and how scared one is? Like holding on and goin thru it? I hope these all just made sense
1. “Yes,” he whispered, kneeling down next to the cage. He pressed his forehead against the cool bars, gazing sadly at his friend on the other side. “Things look like shit right now, and we’ve lost a lot in just a day. If I could change things I would, but I can’t and neither can you. The most we can do is move forward and fight through it. And I need you to do it with me. I can’t go it alone.”
2. “What would you have done, girl? When the world turned its back on you and Death was ready to take you? What would you have done when the enemy held you within an inch of Death until you were ready for it?”
“I would have fought,” she snarled. “I would have fought like hell. No one ever said living was a picnic. I’d fight for my damn life. I wouldn’t lay down like some pathetic puppy.”
3. “I hope you can hear me, somewhere in there.” The hero stared at their old friend, lying deathly still in a hospital bed. “I wanted to tell you to hang on. I wanted to apologize for everything’s that happened. And I wanted to beg you to keep fighting for your life. Maybe it’s selfish of me to say all this, but I know you’re going through a lot of hurt right now, physically and mentally. You’re probably scared. I’m scared too. But I’d like you to keep fighting so we can make it through this. We’ve got more battles to come, and I know you can do it. Life is worth it. You’re worth it.”
4. “I shouldn’t be the one doing this,” the villain began, pacing before the chained up hero. “But none of the other heroes have come to rescue you, and I’ve heard from the grapevine that you’ve given up.”
“What’s the point.” The hero said. It wasn’t a real question, just a blunt statement. “I’m not getting out of here, and the things I was fighting for are gone.”
“That’s a bullshit answer,” the villain snapped, grabbing a chair and dragging it until they could sit down just a couple feet from the hero. “You think dying or giving up will make this better? That it will be some self-sacrificing thing that people will glorify for years to come? You’re kidding yourself.”
“It’s the right thing to do. It’s the brave death of a soldier.”
“You’re not a soldier. You’ve always done the right thing before, hero. So how about you cut the gloomy attitude and live for those people, not die. Just because things look bad now, doesn’t mean there’s no chance left. It doesn’t mean all is lost.”
5. “And as I watched my world burn to pieces, I decided then and there that I wanted to live. Not just survive, but live. I was terrified of the future and of what would happen to me, but I still wanted to experience life.”
hi! i read your fighting the odds till 6am this morning, im tired as hell but it's definitely worth it! i love it so much and now i miss watching thg. do you plan to do an epilogue or a one shot based on this fic? bc im dying to know remus's reaction when james got back to D12. and congrats on your 10k 💕💕
Boy do I have news for you...
Okay so Fighting the Odds has two one shots that go with it
This unnamed one about the boys watching the games
And Fighting the Fear which I literally posted last night which is about james and lily one month after the games
I also have a separate hunger games inspired fic called Venom
“James Potter,” Ludo said, taking a seat and motioning for James to do the same. “James Potter.” He repeated. “You know, you’ve caused a bit of a stir.” He said, leaning over so his elbow was on his knee.
James wanted to look relaxed as well, so he pulled his leg up and rested his ankle on his knee, nodding. “I suppose I have.” He agreed with a smirk.
“That boy that you volunteered for- We have the footage, don’t we?” Ludo wasn’t looking at him, he was looking off stage, and they must have said yes, because then Ludo was directing attention to the large screen behind them.
“Can you tell us about that moment?” Ludo asked, “You looked surprised to find that you had raised your hand.”
He nodded, his head feeling as heavy. “Remus is like a brother to me.” He said, forcing himself to look up.
“Yes, but my friends backstage found a bit of footage that everyone here has yet to see,” He said mysteriously, causing James to crinkle his brow again. “And I for one certainly find it interesting. Would you all like to see it?” He asked, as though he might not have made up his mind on whether or not he was going to play the clip.
Ludo winked at the crowd before turning back to look at the screen. James looked this time as well. There was Dolores standing up on stage, she said ladies first and James’ heart started pounding in his ears because he knew exactly what was about to be shown in front of all of Panem.

Hey everyone! I was tagged by @magic-girl-in-a-muggle-world, @women-inthe-sequel and @pareidolian to tag a fic that I’m proud of. I feel like I talk more about a lot of my other fics, and this one doesn’t get as much love from me, but I am really proud of it! I stuck to my outline and it didn’t get too long (like some fics I know) and I really like it <3
I’ll be tagging @elleisforlovee @snapslikethis @disneyprinceronweasley and anyone else who wants to share something that they’re proud of!
sorry if you’ve answered this but I just finished reading your hunger games AU (which was bloody incredible). I’m just wondering what everyone back in district 12 thought about James + Lily’s relationship? Do the boys think it’s for real? I wonder what petunia thinks of him 😂
So I don’t know what this is exactly, but as soon as I saw this ask I knew I was going to write it. I’m sure Petunia is grateful that James took care of her sister, and I don’t think she’d think about much past that. I think the boys were always going to be more complicated. Because Sirius had thought that he’d volunteer to go into the games for her.
Here’s a small glimpse.
WARNING: THIS CONTAINS A LOT OF SPOILERS FOR MY FIC FIGHTING THE ODDS
WC: 1K
They couldn’t go to the Potter’s for the longest time.
Not because Mr. and Mrs. Potter had told them to stay away, but because Remus felt guilty and Sirius was angry with them for allowing thisto happen and so no one knew what to say and they kept their distance.
But they all shouldered these feelings on the first day ofthe games. They all burrowed into the couch and watched as the numbers tickeddown from thirty.
They all about pissed themselves when they watched Jamessneak into the career camp to grab that damned bow. Sirius had never foundhimself the prayerful type, but he was asking anyone and everyone to keep Jamessafe in that moment.
He found her of course, gave her the bow and convinced herto team up.
And then the two idiots decided to destroy the careers food supply. And James was the bait and Sirius wanted to throttle Lily for putting him inthat situation. But then she got blown up and chased through the woods whileher head was bleeding and he couldn’t breath as he watched her do what she’dsaid that she would never do, she shot one of the careers with her arrows thatJames had gotten her and was able to crawl away.
He didn’t know when he noticed that Lily was acting as muchas he had thought she was originally, but he didn’t think that her discoveringthat she might have feeling for James in the middle of the death arena was a goodenough reason for her to keep James around. Because he knew that James wasn’tgoing to do anything to hurt Lily, he knew that he was going to do whatever hecould to make sure that she would come home, and that meant that he wasn’tgoing to come home.
They didn’t talk about it. But Remus jaw was always clenched, and Peter barely spoke so Sirius knew that they had things that they didn’tthink they were allowed to say out loud. Things like, Lily needed to stayhidden in those rocks so that James could come home. Things like James shouldstop looking for her and focus on winning.
But then they made the rule change and Peter voiced his excitement.
“They’re going to make it,” He said quietly after James hadfound Lily and she’d kissed him, and Sirius didn’t say anything.
“She’s not going to make it.” Remus surprised him byspeaking up. It was the first time he’d said anything while they had beenwatching the games.
“Sure she will.”
“No, look at her. It’s too late.”
And he was the expert, so they didn’t argue with himanymore.
They just watched James frantically trying to keep heralive, they watched Lily accept that she was going to die. They watched himdrug her with a sleeping aid so that he could go and get himself killed at theFeast.
Remus’s hands were bleeding by the time James was headingback with two packs. He’d dug his nails into his palms and Mrs. Potter made himsit at the dining table and let her clean them up.
And then Lily got better and Sirius felt himself gethopeful. They could come home. Remus seemed to be determined to not gethopeful, but Peter was vocally hopeful. He started going out to the publicshowing and cheering them on in a less stoic and grim fashion.
Sirius knew that the entire game could change with the flipof a switch, so he couldn’t go out and watch in public, he had to stay withJames’ parents because he knew that’s what James would have wanted him to do.
The finale was the worst.
Sirius knew somehow that Rabastan wasn’t going to kill Jamesor Lily. He had a feeling that it was going to come down to the two of them.
And when Ludo made the announcement that the rule change wasnow void, when he said that they weren’t going to let them both come home, Siriusfelt his heart drop to his stomach, but he wasn’t surprised.
James’ mum had started crying, his dad was holding her, becausethey knew that James wasn’t going to hurt Lily. They knew that he was going tolet her go home.
Remus broke a vase. Apparently, he had started hoping, becausehe was angry in a way that only a hopeful person could have been.
Sirius had to tell them all to be quiet when Lily startedgoing on about the berries.
He watched her little show, watched her cry, but he figuredshe had to do that, to make her feel better about herself when she got home, and James was dead. He hadn’t been expecting the berries.
“What is she doing?” Mr. Potter asked, letting go of hiswife so he could get closer to the screen. “What does she have there?”
James reached out and covered her hand with his own. “Lily,I’m not letting you-”
“James, just trust me.” She said, stepping closer to himas she pulled her hand back, looking up at him through her lashes. “Trustme.”
James nodded slowly and then looked down at their hands again.“Together?” He asked.
“Together,” Lily agreed, “One,”
James ground his teeth together. “Two,”
“Three,” Lily lifted her hand up to her mouth and Jamesmirrored her actions. The berries touched his lips.
“Wait!” Ludo’s voice filled the arena once more. It wasfrantic and loud. “Stop! Ladies and gentlemen, the victors of the seventyfourth hunger games!”
No one breathed. No one wanted to let themselves believe.
But they were coming home.
Both of them.
They wouldn’t be the people that they had been when theyleft, but they were coming home together.
Sirius took a deep slow breath and fell back against thecouch.
“I’m going to kick his arse.” Remus said quietly from besidehim.
“Yeah,” Sirius nodded, his breath coming quicker now. Hehadn’t been able to take a full breath since James had left. “Yeah, me too.”
“Attention tributes,” Ludo’s voice came over the arena and Lily’s hand shot out and grabbed at James’ sleeve. Her gaze stayed glued to the ground though. “The earlier revision stating that there could be two victors from the same district, has been revoked. Thank you, and maybe the odds be ever in your favor.”
