I thought a lot about ShouZhen's relationship after watching episode 5, and I thought about it in the most practical way just like how Shouyi always explained their situation by himself.
I don't want a happy ending if the story cannot solve these two' psychological problems properly. Actually the end of episode 6 disappointed me. It suddenly became too simple and shallow. Shouyi's mindset should have been better portrayed in order to come to the decision keeping Zhenxuan beside. I was very disappointed because Shouyi's last decision did not match the character's development at all. It takes a great motive, a profound and overwhelming impact for someone with such heavy obstacles and rigid defenses like Shouyi to change his mind and do something against his own safety.
My last hope is that next week's spin-off will explain thoroughly and give a logical reason behind this turning point of Shouyi. 🙁
But to be fair, my questions for Zhenxuan are almost reasonably answered. The most important and precious thing is that Zhenxuan showed Shouyi how good and worthy of love he is.
I don't know if Shouyi realized that after 12 years, Zhenxuan inherited his decision that year, letting him go with the same reason: I want the best for you, I don't want to become your burden, I want to protect you. Zhenxuan managed to prove that he was mature and healthy, he is like a mirror for Shouyi to reflect on himself: "I grew up because of you. Do you see the image of you in the past in me at the moment? Today I give up because I truly love you. Maybe I’ve understood your feelings in the past."
Shouyi, if you chose to keep Zhenxuan by your side, you would best perceive him as a healthy adult rather than the defective teenager in the past. Thanks to Zhenxuan's great love for you, he became human. How precious is your existence, don't you know?
I really love Shouyi a lot. I can see the root of his sickness. If Zhenxuan was born different then Shouyi was forced to become different. Shouyi came to save Zhenxuan. Now it’s Zhenxuan's turn to save him. Hopefully soon he can love himself and deeply feel that he deserves to be loved. Shouyi, wish you happiness!
