Journal entry 1st March 2023- My wife and made this ages ago as a tribute to aisha yesufu, civil rights activist who was instrumental in bringing about the "bring back our girls" campaign in 2014. She later participated in the end stars demonstrations and was immortalised with an iconic image she happened to be the subject of. Motivated by the events of my night when someone did the right thing and that is why I began to write here. Casting my mind back as a reminder of how many steps, how many times I have had to "eat crow" just to be in the game... Photographers were taken for granted just like the rest of the creatives in their varying disciplines.
Discipline is what keeps us. If you know you know. Anyone who has been through even a little of this exploitation that took place during the 90's and beyond. It was like a silent acceptance of bulshit. People that went through it to the other side without putting the camera down are now laughing all the way to the bankers.
Today I am greatful for the reminder...
