one thing thats super underrated with caputo and figueroa is how they both baby the inmates in their own way b/c they’re human and they know the inmates deserve better care. caputo’s obviously way more obvious with the way he fought for taystee, fought to get the girls a decent education program, and leaked sophia’s condition so her wife could properly fight the MCC to get her out of seg. figueroa was much more subtle about it. in the second season when she snaps at taystee for expecting a job out of job fair seemingly regrets taking her anger out on her (at the time she was stressed out about a reporter looking into the funds of the prison) and tries to satiate her by promising money in her commissary. and, of course, when she comes to the MCC’s detention center she gives up her own chances at having a baby by giving one of the girls a pill necessary to induce a miscarriage bc she couldn’t stand the thought of her having to carry her attacker’s baby to term. these two were really meant for each other.
