alright i'm actually Done playing for tonight now (at... 4:30 am? we love to destroy a sleeping schedule), but here's what i'm playing with for glitch's backstory. it's not cohesive yet At All, which is the part that frustrates me

glitch isn't her literal name. her Literal name is a fucked up series of glyphs that we commonly associate with data corruption, because that's what her name displays as in every digital records system. she's opted to have (glitch) listed next to it like a nickname to simplify things, and that's also what she introduces herself as

she's an ex-pirate, bit very light on the 'ex-'; she only Stopped being a space pirate due to some events i haven't figured out, and then was on the hope as a form of ?lying low?/disappearing after said events

she's what you might call royalty, but not the prim and proper kind. outlaw existence is a family tradition & trademark, and her family was one of a coalition of so-called 'merchant princes' who negotiated their existence outside of earthbound & earth-based laws, but this was in a time prior to colonies among the stars, so their scope was a little narrower. her parents were the heads of the family/business for most of her life, and she'd been training for the role in one fashion or another since her early/mid-teens

her family was also a business and a meritocracy, and frequently adopted non-blood people as recognized family members. familial bonds and family legacy are massively important to her.

she may or may not have gained this info yet, but the entirety of her family (both blood snd non-blood) has been eradicated since she's been in hibernation, and whenever she gets that info she's not going to be a happy camper

her nose sporadically gushes blood as an additional side effect of being dethawed

she's accustomed to being a captain and spacebound life and prefers it to being stuck on a planet

simultaneously, this hellish corporate bullshit makes her skin crawl - they were bad on earth, but Nothing like this (at least i think so) - she's comfortable being a ne'er-do-well in her own right, but she's awkwardly coming to terms with the fact that her interfereing with these corporations can have extreme results for regular people due to the corporation's level of control over normal non-work life

she left her family for sometime after the age of 18 to join an earth military in a fit of pique / disagreement with her parents over how they should conduct business (and joining an earther military would be the most damaging to them). it went poorly, she was sent to a military prison a yearish after boot camp, subsequently escaped and headed home, somewhat chastened

and that's what i have for now. there r so many gaps in this but. it's time to Sleep
