TIME of the SEASON Winter 2025 Edition: MEDALIST
Hmm... No "The" in there. You know they ain't playing.
OK, OK, OK! I’ll check out another sports anime and I see there’s one about figure skating. No, this isn’t going to be another Yuri!! On Ice! so, if you’re going for that, you’re shit out of luck. Also, this is an anime on Hulu and it has a same-day dub. Thankfully, I did see something about it when I first logged in. OK, Hulu, you’re slowly improving. A bit. This is Medalist. Director: Yasutaka…

This guy is also eye-catching. I swear it’s magic how he’s able to have his spins and jumps go along with the music.
Yuri!!! On Ice’s growing popularity with irl figure skaters makes me very happy because, yes, it’s always been a popular enough sport because of the aesthetics and how beautiful it is, but people are now finally taking time out to notice the athletes themselves and pay attention to the technicalities, the details, the efforts that figure skaters put in, how things can go wrong, all the planning, the choreography, the music. All of it is so important and I’m so very glad Yuri!!! On Ice is bringing this all to the forefront.
Two of my guilty pleasures: men's figure-skating, and Johnny Weir.
