So I posted this some time ago on FanFiction, but never on here so I figured I’d post it on here also.

Chat Noir sat perched on a rooftop silently surveying Paris for anything out of the ordinary. Everything to his left good? Check. Everything in front of him good? Check. Everything to his right… Good is a word to describe it. Amazing, wonderful, fantastic, are better, but even those words cannot truly capture what she means to him.

"Everything alright on your end?" she asked blue eyes piercing into him. Chat never knew how Ladybug got all the city lights to bounce off her eyes like that, but it made his heart skip a beat each time it did.

"Everything's great now that I see your face," he replied with a wink and a grin.

Ladybug heavily sighed. "Chat," she said sternly. "Focus, is there any trouble on your end?" That's the thing, with her around, Chat always found it hard to focus.

That's because he liked her.

She was cute and bouncy and light-hearted. She was a great partner and he enjoyed his time with her. He especially enjoyed flirting with her, even though she rarely flirted back. She was the brightness in a dark wave of "Yes father, I'm getting good grades," and "Yes father, I'll be at the photoshoot tomorrow."

If they weren't partners he'd profess his love for her. But that's not how it worked out, is it? He knows that shouldn't make a difference, but what if she actually rejected him. For real. Not an annoyed with the time rejection like she always did, but an actual 'no way in hell would we ever date' way.

Then again, maybe, just maybe, if she knew how he felt she'd say screw it and meet him outside of their alternate egos. If only she knew.

Ladybug sat across from Chat Noir waiting for his reply. Instead, she was met with two eyes intensely staring at her. She knew what it was; the boy had a thing for her.

Not anything huge mind you, but a little thing. Like a flirty thing, not like an 'I want a relationship' thing. She's not going to lie, she really thought for a moment that Chat might have wanted more between them. But, she saw the way he looked and flirted with Marinette. That's when she realized flirting was a normal part of his personality and not an indicator of whether he liked someone.

But what if she was wrong. What if he was flirty, but also liked her? That would be a problem because, like most teenage loves, she didn't like him back.

'Isn't it always like this?' she thought. Love in your teen years is like Gatsby and his green light. We reach out to our crushes across the way, but unlike Gatsby, we never touch them. Just reach, reach, reach.

Chat may be reaching for her, his green light, but she stayed still on the lake, while she turned to reach out for her green light, Adrien.

"There might be a problem," Chat replied in a barely audible voice.

Green, reach, green, reach. Then it's daytime and the green light they've wanted is gone.
