Very random tangent about Fiks/Umazane Misli
So, we all know that UM is about, like the title says, Indecent Notions, Dirty Thoughts, etc etc…
My “””theory””” is that Fiks is the “prequel” to UM. Because, from my very poor understanding of the lyrics, Fiks talks about someone, most likely a woman (I will still address them with they/them pronouns for continuity), with whom the narrator (Bojan) used to be in a relationship/hook up with.
Now the two don’t see each other anymore and the narrator is singing about how he doesn’t believe that his ex really doesn’t think about him anymore. The first lines of the song are:
“Do your really not feel like dancing next to my body?/Do you really not feel like shouting from my touch?/Do you really not think of me when you're plying with the moon?/Am I really not in your thoughts when you give yourself to him?”
Which implies that the ex is now in a relationship with someone else and the narrator doesn’t believe that they don’t love him anymore.
The last line of the chorus says:
“I know well that you mixed something/Into the daily dose of fix/which would muddle thoughts”
Now, I’m going to go on a limb here and say that this “fix” that Bojan is talking about is some kind of fictional medicine/drug that prevents one from thinking about things they shouldn’t. From having indecent notions, and the narrator is implying that his ex put something in this “medicine” to prevent it from having an effect (which is why he “knows well”. He knows the ex keeps on having thoughts about him even if they shouldn’t).
Now, what is UM about? Well, it’s about having indecent notions and not giving a flying fuck about what others think. I speculate that UM is just Fiks from the ex’s perspective (which just makes me go, so the ex is a guy? Because after all, it is sung by a man)
The first lyrics of UM are:
“Look me right in the eyes/As I lie to you, truthfully/That you're not the one who awakens/All of these indecent notions within me”
To me this is the protagonist of UM confronting the one of Fiks about not thinking about him anymore, because they are “lying to you, truthfully” aka telling Fiks that they don’t think about him anymore out of good heart.
The line of UM “my dreams are of your taste” is UM confirming Fiks’ thoughts of “Is the touch of dancing hands really not in your head anymore?”
