ARE YOU KIDDING ME, PJ? (BOTFA EE spoiler/rant ahead)

Funeral, which we should have gotten in the theatrical cut, to give us some closure, right? Should feature EACH of the Durins, right?  I mean they’re family, they’re all royalty, they all died, they’re the only members of the company who did, right? So, lovely long pass and pause on Thorin, as expected -- King and all that. Long pass and pause on Kili, okay fine, also expected. What does Fili get? One short very long distance group shot that doesn’t even really look much like him (hair and beard seem too dark). Why in FRACK does PJ hate that man? I swear if I ever meet Jackass, I’m going to sit on him until he tells me what his problem is...

Fili’s movie death still makes me sick to my stomach, like…I don’t even have to see it. Just hearing someone mention it twists my insides into knots. UGH

I don’t think they ever did shoot it. I just remember Graham saying somewhere that Dean was really nervous about it looking good (also that Dean is very good at dying) and that he and Richard, Martin, and Aidan went to watch the shoot and support.

And I really don’t think they will change any scenes completely. I can just imagine minor changes like Azog’s sword arm coming out of Fili’s chest or blood on said sword arm after he drags it back out.

Oh yes, that bit about Dean being exceptionally good at dying, I remember that XD And I also agree with you - I don’t think we can expect much more than... things being a bit more gore-ish and bloody than they were before :/

I’ve never seen any evidence at all that it was filmed, only rumours. There was a similar rumour about Kili shortly after AUJ but they were only ever rumours. The rating’s probably just because of more battle violence. Maybe Bifur’s missing axe?

I thought I read somewhere that it wasn't much different than what happened in the film, just that Azog threw down Fili's head first so it landed in front of Thorin then dropped his body. But that was ages ago and I'm not sure where I read it, sorry. So maybe they didn't film it and the R rating goes for something else.

Oh no, nonnie, there’s no need to apologise *hugs you*See, that’s what I remember, too - people describing Fili’s death scene like that when the movie first came out (heck, maybe even before that). I’m just not sure whether that was a wrong assumption, some sort of prank or an actual possibility, that’s all :/Either way, I hope we’ll never have to see that happen *holds onto you*

In the other EEs, they never outright changed anything though, did they, unless I’m forgetting something? They just added scenes so I don’t think this would happen. (It better not.)

I don’t recall them ever changing anything so drastically - maybe adding some scenes or a few more frames here and there, but replacing a scene with something completely different? I don’t think they ever did that. And I don’t they would, either; although a different death wouldn’t change the fact that Fili dies, so not altering the main plot, I don’t believe they would go to such lengths.

So yeah, that is improbable, albeit a peculiar hyphotesis about WHY this extended edition should have such a high rating; and I’m still wondering about that :/ 

But here’s something else I was wondering: is there actual footage of this alternate death? Because - and please correct me if I’m wrong - I always assumed it to be just a rumor/possible concept art that was discarded later on, much like the idea of having Azog drown Kili. I didn’t think the... beheading (gosh, I hate this so much alsdkjlskdj) was ever even filmed to begin with, but now I’m starting to doubt that? Anyone got an answer?

Fili's last words should have MEANT something. Yes, he was trying to save the others, but two words? That's his final impression. And it sucks. Same with Kili - his last word should not have been "Tauriel." What the hell. How could something so simple ("Fili and Kili had fallen defending [Thorin] with shield and body") get fucked up so badly? If you told me this was how it ended a year ago, I would have laughed and not believed it.
