Store cupboard pineapple upside down cake
c
Of course, this cake only is a store cupboard staple if you actually have the ingredients stashed in your kitchen somewhere…
That said, I bet many people will have a rogue tin of pineapple and are more likely to have some olive oil to hand than butter, which is much more widely used in cake baking.
During these crazy times of lockdown baking, many people are finding it difficult to get…

[RECIPE] Olive Kaketama Udon with FILIPPO BERIO Olive Oil
It has been quite long since the last time we posted a recipe on this blog, but here we are, sharing this favorite easy, simple, and healthy dish we usually make at home. Honestly, cooking is not really my forte so the homemade meals are usually made by Mr. K since he’s a very good cook. He cooks many kinds of food, but for simple and guilt-less dinner, usually we go for Japanese food, and this O…

Filippo Berio Delicato Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Influenster Campaign 2016
New Post has been published on The Rakyat Post

China firm taking control of Italian olive oil producer Filippo Berio
SHANGHAI, Oct 8:
China’s state-owned Bright Food said it has agreed to buy a majority stake in Italian olive oil producer Salov as it seeks more targets overseas.
The deal is the latest in a global expansion drive by the Chinese company, which already controls British cereal firm Weetabix.
Bright subsidiary Shanghai Yimin No 1 Foods (Group) Co had reached an agreement with Salov’s private owners, the Fontana family, to take a majority stake in the firm, parent Bright said in a statement yesterday.
The exact size and price of the stake were not given. The statement said the acquisition was part of the “internationalisation advance” of Bright.
Headquartered in Tuscany, Italy, Salov produces olive oil under the Sagra and Filippo Berio brands and sells to more than 60 countries, according to its website.
It claims to hold leading positions in the US with a market share of 19% and Britain with 23%.
Bright will boost Salov’s production and sales after the acquisition to help it grow outside its home market, the statement said.
Shanghai-based Bright Food has been aggressively searching for overseas assets in recent years to expand its global footprint.
The company in May signed an agreement with London-based private equity firm Apax Partners to buy a 56% stake in Israeli food maker Tnuva, in a deal that is still pending.
Bright also paid US$1.94 billion (RM6.33 billion) in 2012 for a 60% stake in Weetabix and bought a 75% stake in Australia’s Manassen Foods in 2011.
Filippo Berio EVOO (Part 1)
About Filippo Berio EVOO: Imported from Italy, this extra virgin olive oil is best used for marinating and dressing. The other olive oils in this line are the Olive Oil (best used for basting, grilling and sauteing) and Extra Light Olive Oil (best for frying and baking). It's high in monounsaturated fats (good fat), contains no trans fat, cholesterol, sugar, salt, gluten and can help reduce the risk of heart disease and control blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
About Oils & Cooking: Some of you may be wondering why there are different types of oils. All oils are different in that they will smoke at various temperatures. Some can only take so much heat before they smoke and destroy the flavors of the food you're intending to cook. After the smoke point comes the flash point. This is where your food could burst into flames from the oil reaching its "I've had it moment". The EVOO is delicate and can't take too much heat, which is why it's recommended for marinating and dressing. So in my reviews, you'll see me using it for either non-cooking purposes or for dressings, marinades, sauces and bread dips.
How I stumbled upon it: BzzAgent sent me this to review. Retails for ~$8.50 for 16 fl oz
My Honest Initial Opinion(s): After unpacking the box, I cracked it open and gave it a whiff. Smells as you'd expect, like olive oil. Feels like you'd expect, moisturizing.
What came in the box: So, as the above photo shows, the box came with the 8.4 oz EVOO, a rubber can opener, a couple reading materials, a magnet with instructions on substituting butter with EVOO, and a few recipes with a coupon attached. The recipes included and more can be found here: http://www.filippoberio.com/ourrecipes
This review will be a little different. It will most likely be at minimum, three parts. This first part is the unpacking/unveiling of. Showing you what came in the box and initial thoughts. My second one will be beauty related (because that's what this blog is mostly about). The third one will be food related and judging its characteristics in that way.

When you're substituting, keep in mind the differences between oils!
