I'll honestly never forgive Those Bronies for being as loud and obvious in spaces meant for children, or the retaliatory types that assumed anyone who had even a passing interest in MLP in their entire life was like Those Bronies, because it was genuinely a good show with enjoyable characters and fun animation. It could've just. Been a nice time.

HARD same, anon. like--genuinely what a loss. the color palette is amazing, the design is amazing, there’s a frankly astounding number of pop culture references if you’re watching as an adult (on my last rewatch I caught game of thrones, star wars, star trek, se7en, indiana jones, into the woods, and jekyll and hyde, just off the top of my head). 

also the representation??? there’s gay ponies, there’s disabled ponies, mixed families, adoption, a cast of SIX female characters...i bet my little pony passes the bechdel test with flying colors. and the male characters that are on the show are really good models of positive masculinity. both spike and shining armor have some typically feminine interests and there’s an exploration of them being cool with that, big mac and applejack are close and essentially raise apple bloom together, and discord’s redemption arc is truly one of my favorite things ever. like. the slow transition from entirely selfish -> stops doing bad things for selfish reasons (wanting fluttershy as a friend) -> starts doing good things for selfish reasons (keeping fluttershy as a friend) -> doing good things cause it’s the right thing to do (shit, these people have feelings like fluttershy and i should be more considerate).

also they gave the girly, fashion obsessed character the defining trait of GENEROSITY. typically they’re supposed to be the catty mean selfish one but NO her DEFINING TRAIT is that she loves using her skills and resources TO HELP OTHER PEOPLE.

god the meme-y hateful culture surrounding the whole show makes me so mad. like genuinely it is so fucking good, and also it’s Not That Deep so it’s easy to just sit down and watch it without getting stressed out. i am so sorry i will rant about how much i love this show to anyone who will listen lol.

i CANNOT believe that the plot of this episode is “we found this really cute animal, only problem is, it fucks so fast that there is now a swarm taking over the town and literally eating us out of house and home”

also don’t you just love those episodes where “whatever pinkie is saying is so batshit insane that there’s no way it can have any relevance to what’s happening” and then it turns out she’s the only one who actually knows what’s going on

i also really could not concentrate during this episode because it’s the first one that friendship is witchcraft spoofed and all i could think about was how they had twilight run past bonbon like six times to tell her to keep watering the flowers

anyway this episode is bizarre and i love it
