Happy with the final outcome but is quite fast to fit everything into the story in one minute, would love to extend moments of stillness so they contrast better with the harsh imagery. Ended up not using wallpaper because it was a big hassle and I was happy with how the sundeala boards looked but you can see they have a texture which most walls don’t so not sure anymore. Plus I didn’t get time to make more furniture for the bedroom so looks very stark, unable to properly convey my repetition of three and can’t see bedside table & clock I made. However, the actual animation is good, come a long way since the first year, improved both fabrication techniques/practice and animation skills.
Parents feedback - ‘Overall it makes the viewer feel disturbed. Are you going to have the photo of the three rats? Is the black screen meant to have visuals? - Stills of empty room, his solitude? Decent to madness. The edits in red room corner may be too rapid? But It Is disturbing to see so in that sense it works. Can you linger or splice some static shots between like photo your clock or three pillows on bed with the quilt to indicate the source of his distress? This could be between bed sequence and corner sequence.’ - These are all great feedback suggestions which I would love to try and include if I were to finish this short film - would make story longer and include live-action elements eg. reference pictures I took of my house and skull/dead rat footage.
