CONCEPT STATEMENT
This assessment encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and preform experiments that I wouldn’t have considered usually. In further exploration I found that there were elements from all my experiments that I really enjoyed and the process was less daunting than I had originally thought.
I originally intended to test out the stability of a box using two different methods.
First I wet a series of boxes to see what they would reform as, and then I burnt a couple more to see what the differing result would be, The results from the wet boxes were basic, so I pulled them apart and using PVA glue I put them back together in different shapes so that they were no longer boxes but objects.
From there I was unsure what to do. I knew that each of the objects I created had certain textures about them that I enjoyed and thought looked interesting. So I painted the objects and created a series of imprints out of them on a blank piece of paper. Some worked well while the burnt plastic boxes didn’t leave much imprint.
The final result is an abstract artwork the audience can touch combined from the left-over piece of box and impressions of the materials I worked with/ created throughout my experiments.
