Final Lullaby [First Draft] - Lullaby Lyrics
You’re weary, tired from a lifetime of trials, So for one last time, close your eyes and let me take you away from this life with one final lullaby
Let my voice take you far from the tribulations you’ve faced over years of being told you were a disgrace and feeling it’d be better to be erased. Let me take you far from this life that’s worn you down, Blow away your storm clouds, give you one last dream of music, so loud
Let me sing you your final lullaby, something to lull you to sleep as I sing with tears in my eyes. Let me sing you your final lullaby, holding you close like a child clutching their teddy. Let me sing you this tune and whisper a final time my love for you.
Let my voice carry you to another place far from the burdens you’ve carried. You’ve been trying for so long to run away; I can only imagine the look upon your face If you were to wipe the mask away
Let me sing you your final lullaby, lull you into your final sleep. Let me hold you as you draw your final breath, rocking you as though you were an infant, sleeping upon my breast. Let me sing you your final lullaby, let your final moments be precious and your eyes be dry.
Don’t cry for me, I want you to be at peace. Do not fear for me I will carry on your legacy. I love you. Now go rest in peace.

The Weeknd - After Hours [Bonus Tracks Review]
15 - Nothing Compares: Welcome to hell, everybody! It looks a lot like Las Vegas. There’s a madness and mania to this track that captures the feeling of being at your wit’s end, laughing as you cry. I absolutely love the intro and outro, the sinister build-up and ominous fadeout. And I call it hell, but it’s really more like purgatory. This song is about the misery of a severed connection, a relationship you wish you could bridge but have no way of fixing. Accepting your own helplessness is the hardest part of letting go. Favorite Lyric: “I’ve been trying hard to find the words to say; if we tried again we’d make the same mistakes...so I fill the void, I know you do the same...” 9/10, Excellent
16 - Missed You: This song is soft and sweet and sad. Musically it plays like a desperate plea to a lost love to come back, but lyrically it reads like a confession. There’s a sense of being too ashamed to even ask for another shot at love. Too much damage was done, too many regrets were left over. It’s interesting how short this track is, not even two and a half minutes. It says what it needs to say, quietly and bitterly, then dissipates into the mist. It honestly wouldn’t have felt out of place on My Dear Melancholy, since its production and subject matter are so in line with that chapter of Abel’s life and music. Favorite Lyric: “I can’t hold you responsible for the things I do.” 8.5/10, Great
17 - Final Lullaby: This might be the saddest song Abel’s ever released, and that’s fucking saying something. Listening to it reminds me of riding in the back of my parents’ car as a child late at night, staring out the window at the city lights, fighting to stay awake as I drifted off to sleep anyway. I don’t know how a song can be so gentle and soothing while making me want to cry my eyes out at the same time. I guess it really is a lullaby, isn’t it? Also it might be about a murder-suicide, so that’s nice. Either way, it’s the perfect epilogue to After Hours and I’m sure it’ll haunt my head like a ghost of an echo for years to come. Favorite Lyric: “And I can’t make you stay, in this broken place, and I hope you find peace, close your eyes as I put us to sleep...” 10/10, Outstanding
