Thank you for your participation! The poll is closed.
You can visualize the results here but there will be a summary below + conclusion/thoughts.
To the main question, should the Wiki continue hosting articles for Neru and Haku, out of 216 people 206 voted they should be preserved, regardless of their opinion on them. 10 people asked for their articles to be deleted.
To "should the wiki be strictly about the tech side and official Vocaloids or also include the surrounding culture" a majority of people (209) think the Wiki should be large and expansive, not limited.
Out of 216 people 199 thought Kasane Teto should have a "bridge" article in the Wiki, 17 wanting to clearly separate UTAU from Vocaloid topics into different sites.
Now onto the personal/touchy questions: In terms of following, 114 out of 216 people like or love Neru and Haku and 85 are indifferent towards them but think they are part of the culture. A group of 12 does not care about things involving them and 5 admit disliking them.
196 out of 214 people believe Neru and Haku's fanbase coexists parallel to the Vocaloid one, while 18 people believe they rob attention that could have gone to a real, obscure Vocaloid character.
Finally, 128 out of 216 people think there is no issue to fanloid content existing in current times. A group of 71 are fanatics and would like them to get more recognition, and a group of 17 think it's outdated to still create fanloid content.
Thank you so much for participating. The poll was shared within the Wiki server but it was largely ignored as expected (this is why there was a disclaimer it will probably have no effect on the decisions that will be taken about it). But this survey wasn't made with that intention.
This survey was mostly made to show that the average of people in this fandom either like Neru and Haku fine or don't care about them but aren't bothered by their existence either, or them existing in Vocaloid culture for that matter. There have been some attacks over time towards fans of Akita Neru/Yowane Haku and they have increased with the years as they are less and less mentioned by "official sources" such as CFM, Sega or given GSC merchandise.
Some people feel justified in treating Neru/Haku fans and creators poorly because they think most of the fandom is with their sentiment since the average Vocaloid fan doesn't ever think about them, so that means they wouldn't notice if they were gone, but the reality is that most people don't mind what others enjoy, and some even like them, but just casually, they don't draw them because they have many other faves like real Vocaloids they rather draw.
It's easy also to dismiss their fandom as not existing anymore because you are not looking for the fans (which there are a good bunch in Japan) instead you consume regular Vocaloid/Piapro content, so these feelings of "nobody would notice if Neru and Haku disappeared forever" is what are ultimately justifying the discussion of their wiki article being deleted and the harassment of fans on DeviantArt. Your input confirmed my feelings that.. it's not that deep.
Their existence isn't a nuisance even to many people who aren't personally into fanloids and they have gained the right to be recognized and remembered at least as part of Vocaloid's history.
Thank you again for your help!
