Final delivery and HvA open dag
This will be the very last post for us we swear, we only want to inform you about the results from the Beta delivery on 13-1-2014 and the demonstration we gave at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam open day on 18-1-2014.
We started on Monday 13-1-2014 preparing our stand in classroom E1.46 at 8:00 AM. Setting up all the hardware, software and decorations took us about 90 minutes in total. After installing everything we had half an hour to prepare our presentation, mostly go over the structure of our presentation and how we want to transition our presentation into the live demo.
At 10 AM the presentation started, the presentation gave a technical insight and the usage of the system. The presentation lasted about 15 minutes and we then we gave a live demo using our setup with 8 chairs instead of the 16 chairs we did on the Alpha test.
After the demo the assessors could ask questions about the system and left shortly after to return later with our final product grade. The assessors were very pleased with our solution and think that our system could be used in real-life. The only problem was that we should have included a problem analysis and solution based presentation, in which we explained our difficulties and our progression more. This resulted in a 9 as our product grade, and we are very pleased with this result.
After our product delivery we were asked to demonstrate our solution on the open dag on Saturday 18th of January. Some team members decided to demonstrate our product.
On Friday 17 January 15:00 we needed to be present at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam to install our full 8 seat solution setup yet again, which also took about 1,5 hours to setup.
This time we spend more time on making sure the wires on the seat we nearly invisible using duct tape to secure them on the seats and on the ground, leading to our daughterboard.
The open dag started at 10 AM so we gathered at 9 AM to make sure that our stand was ready for the early visitors. At 9:05 AM we came to the conclusion that our external database had crashed, we quickly started up our local database and edited our database connections to our local XAMPP server. So now everything was fixed and ready for the presentation at 9:45 AM.
The open dag went well most people looked at our stand and some came up to ask it purpose, most of the people informed about our solution saw great potential in our approach.
When the day neared towards 2 PM we started to dismantle our stand little by little to be able to clear our stand in time and remove the copious amounts of duct tape laying around.
After tomorrow (20th January 2014) we are done with our project, because we have our last two oral exams tomorrow Technology evaluation and Process evaluation, and we are confident that we all we pass both tests.
The is most likely the last post from us, but the Hogeschool van Amsterdam would like to do something with our solution, so there is a small chance you could hear from us again …
Until then we would like to thank you all for reading our blog and we hope we have inspired you in one way or another.
