There be spoilers here! I warn a long rant is coming and if you have not beat Final Fantasy 15 or plan to play it in the future AVOID READING FURTHER. HAHA you have been warned!
Seriously- like SERIOUSLY spoilers.
I just finished playing Final Fantasy 15 and just what the what the what?! I don’t even know where to start. If the game weren’t so beautiful, if it didn’t have such great main characters that I really started to care for (Iggy with the cane- I WALKED for like 15 minutes just so those pixels on screen would stop falling (ok and because I wasn’t for sure if the big guy would give Noctis a beat down or not)), if they hadn’t spent sooooo long on it, and most importantly if this weren’t FINAL FANTASY I would have been mostly <i> mew </i> about the story line. I should have taken the Final Fantasy 15 movie as a warning because it was confusing and weird yet beautiful.
Because of the aforementioned things I overlooked Cindy (I mean come on- cheap shot much? Had she been naked she would have only been slightly less clothed. Which was messed up because otherwise she was a fun character. It was a lazy design- sexy can be done better if that was what they wanted to go for.) I also overlooked frustrating camera angles, small annoyances like limited campsites, really interesting characters that just kind of flew in and then flew out with little fanfare (Luna’s brother, the guard lady, the emperor, etc.)
But the reason Final Fantasy 15 ultimately sucked for me was the epic lead up to the WHAT? ending, followed by the tearjerker second ending, followed by the weird dream sequence ending. I mean come on did everyone die? And WHY did anyone have to die? Luna got killed and it just seemed pointless, and then they took 10 years from Noctis that also seemed pointless, and then he had to sacrifice himself- maybe not as pointless but for $60 is a happy ending of some sort too much to ask for? I mean that cheesy pan over of the EMPTY world is NOT a good ending. If every one of the main characters dies couldn’t we have at least seen some of the other side characters like Iris and Talcolt (sp?) look up at the sky happy and sad- while the populous celebrate. I mean they already modeled the water city- would it have been that much effort to show the citizens there celebrating?!!
More importantly THEY DIDN”T HAVE TO DIE! I mean you have almighty gods able to withstand frostbite in thongs and you can’t have something simple like oh TIME BENDING?
I mean how cool would it have been if Noctis had grown a pair and said hey you piece of crap gods- letting the world suffer for 10 years in darkness to be overrun by demons. YOU FAILED! NOW FIX IT. And then back and forth bickering until they PRETEND kill him sending him back in time to right before freaky immortal dude killed Luna. He steps in saves his lady. CUE CG cutscene where Noctis in full regalia goes to the emperor with a blade and SHUTS HIM DOWN and his demon making machines. Citizens saved. Luna doesn’t die, they get married, the world celebrates, and MORE IMPORTANTLY there is a game I actually want to come back to play after the main story ends. I mean if they got married maybe he could sneak out with his friends and finish those side quests. THAT”S THE ENDING I PAID $60 FOR!!!!!!!!!!!
Not this dark crap that I definitely WON”T be going back to play- I mean what’s the point? Luna dies, Noctis dies, probably his friends died, but let’s just go back and finish those sidequests. UGH.
