Third semester back; first semester at a “real” college
Class starts in two weeks at MSU and I’m kind of worried. I’m sure I’ll be fine, but still.
It’s my first semester back at somewhere other than a community college and the campus is big and I’m old.
I know I’m not actually old or anything, but I’m taking physics 1 and I know there’s gonna be a bunch of 18 year olds in there and I’m going to be like everyone’s grandmother. Plus it’s a huge class and idk I’m just old.
Plus it’s a bigger school and I don’t know where my classes actually are yet or anything. I’m worried I’m going to feel out of place because I’m older than everyone else.
I did schedule my classes a few days ago though, and I’m excited to take big boy math classes. I’m taking: intro to linear algebra, multivariable calculus, physics 1, and world civilizations.
I didn’t wanna take a world civ class but it is what it is. It’s fine.
Another thing, I applied for the honors college and I’m just waiting on my chem lab professor to send a recommendation letter for me, so hopefully he does that soon so I can hear something back, that could be nice.
I am excited to have to study again, I’m excited to have to sit for hours and work on shit, I do enjoy it. It makes me feel productive. I know I got a bit excessive towards the end of last semester, I know I sat at my desk for essentially 9 hours straight (other than maybe a total of an hour and a half to eat and pick up Nic), but I like being busy.
Another thing, I actually picked up my saxophone today and that was kind of nice. It does hurt my feelings a little bit bc I know I used to be really really good at it and now I can’t play for more than 5 min straight without my mouth hurting. I know it’s just me being a perfectionist but it just sucks that I’m not good at it anymore. Plus, I don’t have any good sheet music, so I’m going to order these books that I had at one point during high school that I liked. There was a solo in one that I played for my college auditions 5+ years ago, so I think it could be nice if I could find it and play it again. (and hopefully not feel bad about myself for not being able to play it as well as I once did)
