The infographic canvas is postioned in the centre of the back wall, I have postioned the centre of the canvas to be of a height that can be seen by the viewer and to be a focal point on entry to the foyer from the main entrance from the street. I am aware that a floating full size manakin will be suspended from the ceiling out of arms reach. the canvas must be of height that is below the suspended manakin. More work is needed, regarding the "C" clips that hold the canvas to the industrial red oxide gas tubing( blue cut tube as been split to make a c clip, I will replace these with transparent tube of a softer material). I have decided not to loop the canvas and pass the tube through it ( a standard way of fixing a canvas ). I want the canvas to be wrapped around the tubing to simulate an industrial process of printing large newspapers. The canvas is hung by 4mm steel wire and clamped with steel fasteners. For safety I will add another set of clamps to each of the wires. The cable is one continious length that passes from from one hanging bar through the inside of the tube and looped over the second hanging bar.The position of the canvas allows a clear line of sight from the entrance to the building.

This is the back of the canvas, the ink as penetrated through from the front. The canvas is now folded in to 1/16ths, starched and ironed.

this is a close up of the fixings used that will hang the canvas, steel strapping bars bolted through the canvas and fastened at the back with bolts. i find the close up of small sections of the canvas interesting, the ink lines demonstrate free flowing movement juxtaposed against the industrial strapping.

This is the first time I have seen the canvas displayed totality, un til now I have worked on small sections of the canvas. I did this to ensure that I get the fluidity in my mark making. The pleats from each side are a distraction from the mark making. Reflection: The form of this large canvas is " map like " and the composition at first looks like a complicated junble of lines and text. The structure however does have purpose , an arrangement that is organised and connected. This is the first time I have seen the canvas hung, todate I have only worked on small sections of the canvas ( I intentionaly did this so I would keep the fluidity of my mark making) There is a transformation when you see all the sections together, I had intended for the function of the work to have connotations that all things are connected and a change in one item can affect the whole. I believe that my earlier work on holons is reflected in this work.

A section of the canvas, the mark making , the process of documenting the elements of what is a simple composition is full of energy with lines linking one group to another. This form is busy, full of energy and gets the viewer to move around the canvas searching for its purpose. The touch and feel of the canvas with intended connotations to newsprint paper, in colour and shades also makes a statement that this is something important in that its been placed on canvas. Exploring this theme of value the work could have if funds were available to make the work on parchment.

This photograph of one section of the canvas is abiut transportation of goods. My mark making does have connotations of a road network within a city.
