OC EMOJI ASKS
Thank you for indulging me! 😍 I have all the soft disaster throuple feels right now, particularly Finch towards Vesper, because they're the only one some of these would even remotely come up with. 🥺💕
💗 It takes him a while to realise that he has a crush, but it's not very obvious because he's so counterproductive about it. He starts avoiding and pushing away until those feelings go away, or he might do the opposite and jump the gun and initiate physical/sexual contact in an attempt to "get it out of his system" (and create negative associations with that person), it depends on the situation. When he's in love... he would avoid, but for a different reason: He can't stand being part of the world's cruelty towards them, but doesn't know how to be anything else. If he's brave, he'll try dipping his toe into experiencing and being part of a gentleness he's never experienced before. Once the ball got rolling he'd have a hard time staying away or hiding his feelings all the time, his face gets very easy to read when his guard isn't rock solid all the time. Specifically in terms of staring longingly.
💙 He would never admit it, but yes, if he's genuinely in love with his S/O then he needs to distract himself when they're not around, otherwise he'll obsess about the little piece of him that feels like it's gone too. "Luckily" he's got a whole truckload of ways of cramming unpleasant emotions into a lil pellet that'll manifest as chronic illnesses someday probably. One of those days that he would probably enjoy might look like: blaring angry music, thinking/planning revenge fantasies, and getting through more than a couple stolen cigarettes.
💚 Hmm... well he doesn't like when people do things for him, so someone hugging him for the purpose of making him feel better wouldn't make him feel better, but someone hugging him because they wanted to might. He also might not completely hate having someone lie down on top of him if he trusted them enough, he just needs someone to crush his soul back into his body please. Finch doesn't like feeling like he owes people, but physical touch can help. In this way Ortega is nice to have around, because Ric will initiate a lot for what Finch thinks is exclusively Ric's own sake. Shoulder/neck kisses are very effective as distracting comforts, if someone kisses his Re-Gene tattoos he'll cry (and then commit murder if anyone comments on it).
okay for all three of them because I refuse to choose and love them all #3, 6, and 30 please and thank you 💜💜💜
OC asks (psychology edition)
Thank yooouuu!! Time to ramble about my babies in a way that hopefully makes sense. 😌
3: Does your OC behave differently around different people, if so with whom and how?
Finch (he/they, FHR & Greenwarden): Canon FHR? Not a whole lot of difference, he doesn't trust anyone and keeps up a fairly consistent facade. Unless you count the way he acts differently in Villain Mode, in which case he's... a bloodthirsty murderer. The big difference is when we throw Vesper into the mix, then the way he acts around both them and Ortega shifts. With Vesper there's a lot of quieter understanding, attempts at genuine playfulness, vulnerability they turn into a bond of steel, a recognition that forces him to question things. Then with Ortega there's both more anger and more uncertainty, more tripping over himself, more second thoughts.
Rex (they/them, FHR & TWC): They don't have a lot of dramatic differences in how they act around different people, with maybe the exception of Mortum, who they're a lot more able to let their guard down around (through their puppet), they don't feel as much pressure to be in control.
Harke (he/him, D&D): Definitely, he's got as many personas as facets to his life. The bigger main ones would be his grandiose public life (loud, chaotic, flirtatious) and his underground criminal work life (playful, mysterious, reliable). He's still figuring out who he is to the other characters in our campaign, mostly swinging rapidly back and forth between being a complete dumbass and being surprisingly skilled. Not to mention figuring out genuinely getting closer to a trusting relationship with someone, which mostly involves being increasingly effective at annoying Anwyn (and occasionally almost bleeding out on her floor).
6: Does your OC have a realistic image of their own intelligence?
Finch: Mostly? He is pretty smart and a brilliant tactician, but he's also a little too arrogant at times, especially in terms of social intelligence (mostly in FHR). He thinks he has a better handle on Ortega, and the Rangers in general, than he actually does.
Rex: Has quite an accurate idea of their intelligence in the lab, which is their comfort zone. They could have a little more confidence in their smarts outside of that setting. Overall probably my most intelligent OC?
Harke: He doesn't think much at all about his own intelligence, unless he's plotting maybe. He relies much more on instinct and charisma to get him in and out of most situations. He's probably smarter than he's actively aware of, which is worrying honestly hah.
30: What makes your OC defensive quickest?
Finch: Probably someone genuinely thinking / treating him like he's irrelevant, a nobody, not worth consideration as a person. In the FHR universe, that's a good way to coincidentally get yourself killed by a certain villain.
Rex: Hmm... people intentionally trying to make them feel unworthy of good things would probably be one. Accusations that they're being selfish with someone they care about.
Harke: Oh this is a tough one, he's more likely to joke and laugh things off than get defensive, even if someone does touch a nerve. I think it would have to specifically be about a situation that was 1) his fault, 2) he feels guilty about, and 3) where bystander(s) got severely negatively affected or hurt.
tagged by @pearlsandsteel to try out this cute picrew! thank you!
Left: Detective Sunny Larsen (they/them) on cloud 9 after their first date with Nat, talking to a rodent about it for some reason. Right: Tracker Finch Lachlan (he/they) completely enchanted by a little cat that approached him not pictured is Bautista spotting the interaction and needing to take a moment
picrew of Finch (how they looked a few years ago, though not much has changed), this is basically the first impression Bautista and Nazeri got of them (and let's be honest, he doesn't leave a much better impression on Trace or Devin)
Greenwarden spoilers below
I went down the rabbit hole of trying to read all the asks on fiddles' blog (did not succeed, there's way more than I realised), anyways so Naz has had a crush on Tracker since they met--I think something about bumping into them in a hallway a few years ago and Tracker telling them off--and just... the mental image probably shouldn't be so damn funny of Naz getting snarled at by a disheveled (even moreso than now) Finch and their reaction is basically 😳🥺😍
