@once-upon-a-dess (continued from here)
The two men exited Asgore's truck. While Rudy used his cane to carefully lean his body weight to step onto the dirt road, Asgore came out with ease, his trusty police duty belt clanking on his waist.
When they stopped by the police station to get the keys from Undyne, she gifted the belt to her mentor and former police chief to assist him in this famously-unsolved case. It didn’t match with his pink flower shirt, but he couldn’t help but feel a bit of pride wearing it again.
This was it. The bunker door.
Rudy stared at the pair of doors, his face covered in worry. Was Dess really behind there? Or was he played by some online troll like a fiddle? And if she was there, how would she be? What would she look like?? So much time had past... How would she feel about not being found for so many years??? His hand grasping the cane shook as the questions ran through his mind.
Asgore was attuned to this. Ever the big softy, he instinctively wrapped his arms around the reindeer, lifting him from the ground.
Rudy couldn’t help but melt, just a little, at the reassuring hug. “Thanks, big guy...” he said, feebly hugging him back. After it felt like the hug was going on a little too long, he gave a little pat on Gorey’s arm. “Alright, let’s do this.” He exhaled. “I’m ready.”
-- well, as ready as he’ll ever be...
Asgore fumbled to take out the set of keys and a flashlight from his belt. The door took some force to crack open, as it was supposedly last opened for their initial search for Dess.

Asgore stepped in first, pointing his flashlight into the darkness behind the door, with Rudy closely following behind.
