Ah, dreams. The simultaneous reason for living and bane of a therians life. On one hand, you get to think you're an animal, for like, 9 hours! On the other hand... They're misleading as shit. I'll start with the obvious. Dreams are so easily influenced by every day life. If your mind is constantly on wolves, of course you'll dream about being a wolf. Same goes for burgers ( @arbykinexist ). But seriously. If you think about something, then you may dream about it. If you're questioning a theriotype and have been thinking about it a lot, then you may have a dream shift of that animal. The mistake is when you let that be the decider, please, my sweet children... Dreams are not the decider. Furthermore, dreams are often symbolic. Even if you haven't been thinking about dragons all day, it could be indicative of something else- perhaps you have a patch of dry skin you need to attend to? Or ate too much Indian food? You're not necessarily dragonkin, believe me. FURTHERMORE, a common mistake is that simply seeing an animal in a dream indicates a theriotype. Let's say this altogether people. Therianthropy is identifying AS an animal, not WITH an animal! If you have a dream that a wolf called Darksnout Fangshadow has chosen you to be his human host... Maybe you should get off wattpad? If a wolf is approaching you as a separate organism, then you can't be that thing, in the same way your eye colour can't approach you and deem you "the chosen one". It's an unchangeable aspect of you. These types of dreams are not indicative of a theriotype, either. Honestly? No dreams are.
