Red is a gentle old guy. His heart is heavy and sad. He knows what has happened. A few days of comfort and loving he will feel more like himself. We spoke with Dr. A and we are able to give him pain management tonight. He is hurting and uncomfortable. Just having pain meds alone may help him feel better soon. He does have horribly infected ears. He will get antibiotics soon. Our guys tonight were very gentle with him and kind. They know when one of their own is hurting. Red and Jake seemed to gravitate to each other. They are forming a bond already. Red wanted to sit outside for awhile tonight so some of the gang just stood and sat with him. We could learn a lot from dogs. Their compassion and ability to connect instantly always is amazing.
