Finding My Own Voice
Growing up, I was exposed to my parents’ political views, and there is pressure—spoken or unspoken—to agree with them to avoid conflict or disappointment. At times, it feels easier to conform and stay quiet than to express a different opinion. However, as I form my own views based on what I learn and experience, I realize that not conforming does not mean disrespecting my parents—it means thinking critically and choosing my own values. This taught me that conformity can keep peace in relationships, but independence in beliefs is important for personal growth and responsible citizenship.
