Over millions of years, silica-rich groundwater seeped in and deposited microcrystalline quartz in slow, concentric layers. Dioptase from Congo, on the iconic tan host matrix. The emerald color you're seeing isn't a treatment or a coincidence — it comes from copper cyclosilicate chemistry. Cu²⁺ ions sit in 6-fold coordination with silicate, absorbing wavelengths in a way that produces this specific deep saturated green. Same Cu²⁺ ion as malachite, but in a different crystal environment, hence a very different green. Most dealer-grade Congo dioptase originates in the Mindouli area, where the host rock is the honey-colored matrix you see here. Dozens of razor-thin concentric bands in dove gray, dusty lavender, and warm cream wrap a small central druzy quartz pocket — the banding is exceptionally tight and even throughout. Clean flat cut, natural rind intact on the back. This one found a great collector. 🩶

Deep red and amber channel cuts right through the center like a fault line, flanked by tight white-gray fortification bands and three eye agates sitting low in the composition. Rough chalcedony rind left intact on the edges — good call. This one found its collector. 🔥

Beautiful lavender and pink fortification banding flows through this polished half with crisp contrast between the soft pastel layers. The cut reveals perfect symmetrical patterns with sharp band definition and a small vugy center. Nice polish work shows off those delicate color transitions 💜
